I will start off with the good aspects of this disaster of a rental. The initial correspondence with the owner was quick. The booking process was easy. The water and electric worked.
Upon arrival, we opened the door and were met with a foul, moldy smell. I was certain that the home had recently flooded, but it was possible some of the terrible smell was associated with the rug attached to the vinyl floor.
While moving some of our belongings into the rental, a neighbor, Paul, decided to start screaming at my wife because we had multiple cars in the rental's driveway. He drove over from his house in his truck and started revving the engine in order to intimidate my wife while screaming at her. The second I came outside to see what was going on, he tore off up the street. Since it was already late, we decided to just go inside and try to get settled, but my wife was terrified.
While moving around our luggage, we found the place to be EXTREMELY cramped. The bedroom with bunk beds may be able to fit a pair of midgets, but a full grown teenager had trouble fitting even while curled up in the fetal position.
CAREFUL in the hallway leading to the bedrooms. An average sized man with normal shoulder width would almost be required to turn sideways to fit. And be wary of the floor in that area as it is set on a steep angle which forces you to put your hand on the wall to make sure you do not tumble into it.
On the second day, the internet went out. Unless you have a booster for your phone, you will NOT have cell phone service, and relying on the sporadic internet to place your calls was not only annoying but it was very dangerous if you had an emergency. We were forced to sit in a downtown parking lot 7 miles away, literally for hours in order to get enough cell reception so that we could perform our online jobs.
The internet came back on after a 30+ hour outage caused at the ISP by some "server issue" , which resulted in router issues at the rental. Fortunately, my son knew the password had reset to the numbers on the router's sticker.
We suffered through the awful mold smell for the next day and then took a planned trip out of state during the following week,
When we returned to the rental after 5 days, the minute we opened the door, we were nearly gagging on the smell. The mold/decay smell was worse and we could not take it any more. We left the following day, with 2+ weeks left on our agreement. We did not receive or get offered a refund.
