We were initially booked for a 5 week stay but left after 3.5 weeks because of an unresolved issue with varmints that were coming under the house at night and making so much noise that it was impossible to sleep. Hodnett Cooperand there exterminator really dropped the ball in how they managed this, but when they learned that we were leaving early due to weeks of no sleep, they did finally step up to the plate, apologized and compensated us for the 9 days that we did not use.
Now, about the house....the best features were the location, beach access and a lovely screened in porch. However, the photos of the interior are misleading. The interior is in great need of renovation and freshening up from top to bottom. It is a pet friendly house which is a great plus, but we could not imagine how in the world you could comfortably fit 8 people in the cramped living spaces. The furniture in the living room is old, stained and very uncomfortable and needs to be replaced. The house has 3 bedrooms, but one of the downstairs bedrooms has the HVAC air handler in the bedroom closet so when the heat or AC goes on, it is like trying to sleep on a plane when you are seated next to the wing with the engines on it. There is a loft space that can only be accessed by a ladder, and there is nothing up there other than storage closets and the access to the roof deck so it just isn't practical( or safe ). A small spiral stair case would make it safer and more accessible.
This house would be realistically comfortable for 2 couples or a couple and one or 2 children( but only if the pest problem is properly addressed). The house is not appropriate for a long term stay but could be tolerable for a long weekend or a summer week. It really needs some decluttering and renovation.
