Lost Dutchman Retreat Cottage

  • A unique retreat located in the Seven Mountains region near State College, PA. Enjoy the quiet mountains and disconnect. The cottage features a large master bedroom with king bed and a balcony. There is a small bathroom with shower attached to the master bedroom. The first floor has a small kitchen. On the ground floor we have a new living room, an additional bedroom with a queen bed and a full bath. The property is located near Bald Eagle State Forest, which provides opportunities for hunting, hiking, Dual Sport riding (prime ground for adventure riding) and some of the best mountain biking trails you could ask for. Rothrock Forest and Coopers Gap are also located nearby for more outdoor enjoyment. Located near famed fishing spots such as Penn's Creek and Kish Creek. Only 25 minutes to downtown State College, making this a quiet place to stay for any University events. There are also several local wineries, pubs and cideries to visit. We loved every minute of our stay at the Lost Dutchman! It's a very cozy home which was conducive for reading, hiking and relaxing. We had fantastic tips for good restaurants, breweries, wineries and several State Parks and natural areas nearby. We are eager to return and enjoy each season at the Lost Dutchman!

Gorgeous home

We had such a beautiful visit with our children at this cabin! The woods were peaceful, the home was so clean & welcoming, we especially loved the board games! Dana & Will were responsive, accommodating, & so welcoming. This was a perfect place to bring my family to visit the area I grew up in! We surely will be back!

Great spot!

Outstanding beds, great place for a peaceful, relaxing space just outside of State College. Will be on our list for future visits as it was a great place for peace, quiet, and rest in the woods! Wonderful communication and a great experience.

Olympic Wrestling Trials

We didn’t get to stay long as we just used the location to sleep during the Olympic Wrestling Trials in State College, but the cottage was clean and in a very nice secluded location. Would definitely stay again! The owners are also very responsive.

Great Stay Stripe Out Game

When everything else in State College was booked, I was lucky to grab this property for two nights. 20 minutes from campus and a clean, comfortable place to stay. I would book again.

We had a great stay at Lost Dutchman's. We rented the entire house (both units) as we had a larger group. Lovely area. Highly recommend.

Remote mountain retreat with close proximity to Penn State University

Spacious, quiet with lots of room to spread out! I was a little surprised at how remote the property was but it worked well for us this weekend. Super comfy bed in master bedroom!

Comfy & quiet

My husband and I enjoyed our stay here while moving our son to PSU. Cabin was just as described, quiet surroundings and comfy bed. We didn’t spend much time at the cabin outside of sleeping but the space and location will be a great place to return on future trips when we’re not so busy moving boxes!

We enjoyed the cottage. Unique design. All the amenities needed were provided. Nice area to take a hike and enjoy the forest area. Will definitely return on another visit to that area.

The Perfect Cottage Getaway

"The Lost Dutchman" retreat was the most perfect getaway. We loved everything about it, the views and sites around were awe-inspiring. The local winery was a huge hit. Could not have been any better. We can not wait to go again.

Wonderful, cozy experience!

The communication from the owner both through Vrbo and in terms of directions printed at the property were excellent. The property itself was well maintained and had all of the necessary accoutrements available. All in all, the weekend stay was a great one and the property largely made that a reality.

Cozy cottage stay

My husband daughter and I stayed here for Penn State parents weekend. It was perfect! Everything was clean and the master bedroom had the most comfortable bed ever. The hosts were very kind and informative and even left a bottle of wine as a welcome gift which we enjoyed at the fire pit on the property ❤️
