About this place Come stay in the Whaler's Room at the Carriage House, located in the peaceful hamlet of Old Mystic, a short 2-mi drive to DT! In the Whaler's Welcome, with a private bath and entrance and a bay window overlooking the garden, you'll sleep soundly on a comfy queen pencil bed and double-size antique spindle bed, both dressed in lovely linens, wake up rested to a beautiful mural and cozy up to a gas fireplace on cold nights!

The space We promise you will feel cared for the moment you walk through the door- from the warm welcome to a specially prepared bed- made just for you!
The Whaler's Welcome has two charming beds: a pencil-post queen and an antique spindle double/full bed. These are ideal for friends or family traveling together!
The gas fireplace fills the room with warmth- beckoning you to curl up on the chairs and read or share a glass of wine on those cold winter nights.
After time out and about (or a day spent to yourself inside:), treat yourself to a whirlpool bath (single-person tub) because you deserve it!
During your stay, you will have a mini fridge for your perishables and a Keurig for your morning cuppa.
Enjoy the bustle of downtown, but come back to the peaceful, quiet Old Mystic- a charming New England Hideaway- a true "Whaler's Welcome!" So what are you waiting for? :-D

The four 1st-floor bedchambers and the 2nd-floor apartment can accommodate up to 14 guests. In addition, we can offer our adjacent properties for family reunions, wedding guests, and retreats! We can accommodate 38 guests in our three uniquely themed properties in Old Mystic! Oh, the possibilities!

Where you’ll be Neighborhood highlights Located in the original colonial settlement of Mystic, the Carriage House property is a short two-mile ride to sightseeing and Mystic eateries.
Do you desire a day to relax after traveling? Grab one of our blankets and have lunch on our lawn. If you enjoy walking, jogging, or biking as part of your getaway, the scenic River Road is just around the corner across the little bridge.
Ready to go out and explore? Spend a day at the Mystic Seaport Museum and immerse yourself in maritime history. See the ships, buildings, and trades that inspired our room names in our adjacent properties: Carriage House, 1784 Denison Home, and 1807 Williams Home. Spend a day exploring the Mystic Aquarium and make a date with one of the Beluga Whales. Are you craving a beach day? Pack our beach bag and towels and head to a local beach or one of Rhode Island's beaches- easily accessible within a 15-minute drive. Venture out to one of the wineries or breweries for an afternoon. Whether you need relaxation or activity, Mystic offers both!

The Mystic Seaport is a must-see while you are here! It is home to five National Historic Landmark vessels: Charles W. Morgan- the last whaling ship, Sabino Coal Steamer- last in regular operation in the U.S.; L.A. Dunton, Joseph Conrad, and the Emma C. Berry. Also, Mystic is home to Clyde's Cider Mill- the oldest steam power cider mill in the U.S.

Getting to this magical place...
~ Mystic is conveniently located midway between Boston and New York. Less than 1 mile off Interstate 95 (exit 90) ~ T. F. Green Airport, Providence, RI, 43 mi/43 min drive ~ Mystic Train Station 3.0 miles ~ Mystic Seaport Museum and area restaurants are a short 2-mile drive down the road. ~ Old Mystic is car-dependent, so if you take the train, you'll need to plan on having an Uber for transportation. ~ Guests can also consider bike riding on River Rd. when the weather is nice. ~ We plan to offer seasonal bike rentals onsite by Mystic Adventure during warmer months. Please inquire about availability.
Guest access You'll have your own charming bedchamber and a private bathroom with a private exterior entrance. The outside firepit and parking are shared with other guests.
You'll receive your thorough check-in instructions three days before arrival (or straightaway if booking less than three days), and you'll receive your keypad code 24 hours before check-in time (or sooner if you booked a last-minute getaway:).
During your stay My husband and I live in Mystic, a 5-minute drive from the 1784 Denison Home. Even though you are set up for self-check-in, you may see one of us around watering plants, taking out trash bins, etc. But rest assured, we are harmless and will respect your space and privacy. If you seek answers, would like suggestions, or even meet us, we are here for you and delight in sharing this lovely little village with visitors! We are always available by phone or text, so please reach out if you need anything!
Other things to note We also have guests who stay in our front red property, the 1784 Denison Home. Please park in front of the Carriage House property, and our other guests park behind the Denison Home.
The Sailor's Room is our four-legged sailor-friendly room, so you may see a dog while staying.
The Whaler's Welcome Room and the Rigger's Retreat Room are on the 1st level under an apartment, so you may hear footsteps above.
