The room was clean and the building has lots of historic character. The washroom was tiny.
There is a weird thing with the code for the front door of the hotel. Apparently the door is locked at night and you need to enter a code into a keypad to get to the lobby. The instructions we got when we checked in made it sound like it was to be locked before we got back from the theatre.
When we returned, we tugged on the door, but as expected it wouldn’t open and there didn’t appear to be a keypad. There was no one at the front desk and we spent a while wandering around looking for another way in.
Turns out the right side of the double doors was unlocked (no sign or way to signal for help) we just tried the wrong side, and based on the info we received at check-in, believed we were locked out. The keypad is on a second door inside the double doors, but it was propped open, so we couldn’t see it.
We had to call them on the phone a few times before it was all sorted out.
There is limited parking, so if you need it, be sure to specify when you book.
If you can’t climb stairs, be sure to tell them that when you book too, as lots of rooms are only accessible by stairs.
When it comes to the elevator, it looks to be fairly newly updated, but there’s no audible signals for people who are blind or have low vision.
Front desk staff won’t recognize you if you leave and come back an hour later.
