We loved this property in the quiet town of Painswick.

We traveled as an extended family and found the house had plenty of room for all and was very comfortable. We cooked some big meals in the well equipped kitchen and enjoyed games around the fire in the evenings. Location was great for walking to restaurants, the pub, shops and local provision store. Easy parking was a short walk away and Painswick’s location was convenient to many other Cotswolds’ towns/sites. We had a wonderful time!!

We loved this property in the quiet town of Painswick. We traveled as an extended family and found the house had plenty of room for all and was very comfortable. We cooked some big meals in the well equipped kitchen and enjoyed games around the fire in the evenings. Location was great for walking to restaurants, the pub, shops and local provision store. The house is absolutely amazing, so spacious and beautiful. We all loved the pool, the local pub snd great walks. The perfect place for all of us to get together to celebrate my husband’s 50th birthday.

Amazing property for a large group

Amazing property for a large group. Beautiful interior and fully equipped facilities. Couldn’t have asked for a better property to stay at. All the rooms were beautiful, clean and set up just as we had asked. The ground floor and all the communal areas are perfect for large groupfor quiet downtimes. The central courtyard was super peaceful whilst the pool area was a perfect sun trap for a day by the pool! Would highly recommend this property for a design led, amazing stay for friends and families!

To find a house that could accommodate 24 of us wasn't easy to do but this house was perfect.

Each bedroom has its own bathroom. The kitchen and Dining room area were both so spacious and with the extra rooms everyone had the chance to feel comfortable. The house was extremely clean. I would highly recommend. The house manager Kirsty was extremely welcoming and helpful with any needs we had.

One of the nicest houses I've ever stayed in

Tracey was so helpful and the house was stunning, the jumpers were such a nice touch too. The fact it doesn't have parking was our only stress, but it's pretty easy to park in the village. Love this place!

Amazing!

We stayed here as a family with kids. The property is stunningly beautiful. Most the rooms have ensuites so it was perfect for us. Great facilities and the kitchen was well equipped. The pool was our highlight, plenty big enough and the fact it was heated was just a bonus. Both kids and adults loved it. Shout out to Tracey who was so accomadating to us. Would definitely stay here again.

What a place!

Wow. The most beautiful house and the most impeccable service. Utterly faultless. There were 17 of us and a few little ones and we all had the time of our lives! Cannot wait to come back :) Absolutely nothing.

Birthday treat

The house is beautiful , lovely space inside and out , everything we needed well equipped . I was concerned about the parking but this wasn't an issue . Would defiantly book this house again . The pool was a great bonus . The only thing was a few maintenance issues - door handles lose , window catches some where lose and when opened was a little worried they wouldn’t hold .

The property is incredible, immaculately presented and designed wonderfully. The team were so helpful at all times and couldn’t have done more for us. Sound proofing - we were very conscious of noise because of the close neighbours and area in general. Being a group of 17 women. One neighbour even knocked as we were leaving to thank us for being so respectful. However there’s noise monitors in the house, that kept going off even whilst we were having breakfast so put us on edge about noise in general. We understand the need to control noise however I’d suggest moving the noise monitors or adjusting them. Other than that, it was incredible.

Towels Beds Lots of hot water Extras eg pool towels/ sweatshirts Amount of crockery etc etc Tea/ coffee etc Basics eg salt/pepper etc etc Storage in bedrooms- no drawers etc so living out of suitcase Bedside table too small for book, glasses, water etc etc! Didn’t like most of the artwork- thought inappropriate for rental property. We didn’t have children in our group but still all thought no not really!

Family trip of a lifetime.

The accommodations were beautiful and historic. Brought all my grown up children and their spouses. The rooms were clean and beautiful. House was perfect for a large group and any issues we had were dealt with in short order. We had a great time and the people of Painswick were wonderful. Couple of minor issues, the sink faucet was broken but wasn’t to much of a problem. Also, a window in one of the bedrooms was broken. But these were very small issues.

The most incredible place to relax

The flow of the house was brilliant! We didn’t feel cramped, on top of each other as there were 3 separate staircases. It was the most perfect family reunion. Amazed at the quality of the appliances, fixtures and fittings as these are normally forgotten about in a rental property. The pool was a beautiful addition that kept the children entertained whilst us adults were socialising. If our family didn’t live at the other side of the world we would do the weekend again next week!!!! The most incredible place to relax and feel “at home”. The PIN code lock was very temperamental but the housekeeper was quick to help us understand a backup way to use. 1 pair of scissors in the kitchen that were a little over used.

Amazing house for large parties and the photos don’t do it justice. Tracey the housekeeper is fantastic and the house provides everything you need for a mini getaway with friends / family. No parking so unloading isn’t ideal. The pre-arrival experience is where it can be improved with the Retreats team being more familiar with the house and what it has available. I was told to hire extra glasses which was 100% not needed and could have saved a trip to Stroud. We’d have also used more of their services (chef etc) if we’d have received it earlier.

Perfect in every way!

This 14th century manor house was perfect for my family of 14 as we gathered for a reunion and anniversary celebration. We loved staying under one roof. Having king sized beds and ensuite bathrooms was a special treat, as that is not yet the norm everywhere overseas. The swimming pool for the kids was a real plus at the end of a hot and full day of sightseeing. And the house itself was just one block from pub, coffee shop and grocery store! We loved the huge kitchen and dining room, which made it easy and fun to cook and clean up together while sipping wine and cocktails. Having 2 dishwashers, 2 hubs and 4 ovens accommodated us extremely well. Special koodos to the staff who looked after our every need, especially bringing fans for each room due to the unseasonably hot days. Having numerous living areas allowed the kids to have their own space. This house was truly perfect in every way, Thank you, thank you, thank you for a lovely and memorable stay. Offering a house for up to 24 guests, one washer/dryer was insufficient. The artwork throughout, which was garish and demonic, was unappreciated, frightening and confusing to young children and inappropriate for families.

Stunning house in a beautiful village

An outstanding property, kept in a truly immaculate condition with stylish yet simple comforts. Perfect for a large family gathering, with literally every possible thing guests may need in a huge kitchen, and several rooms for relaxing. The bar area and the screen room are a superb touch, with the latter creating a perfect hideaway for kids, when pool fun exhaustion started to kick in. The parking situation is the only major let down for this property. We were assured that the village car park could be used. But we were alarmed to find a large sign saying vehicles could only stay 23 hours, with penalty conditions. Our cars were of course fine, however it caused unnecessary distress at the start of the holiday as our guests were arriving. Clearer communication around parking.

Fantastic, so much space and well equipped

ARC Painswick was used as our base for our wedding. The kitchen has double ovens and double microwaves which allows to cook for up to 30 people easily. The bedrooms were all clean, well made up and the water pressure in the showers was great. We never ran out of hot water either. We opted for the heated pool which was a lovely addition even in December. The venue provided so many extra towels for this option too. There are 4x extra sitting rooms that I didn't quite get an understanding on the website, so felt like the place was much bigger than what I thought it was going to be. Overall a great venue that is beautifully rustic, but at the same time having all the modern luxuries that makes everything easier. Thanks for everything. J&k. Very very minor, but some of the soap dispenser plungers did not work in the showers. But that was it :) everything else was lovely.

The most incredible stay!

We had an incredible time during our recent stay at ARC Painswick, the house itself is outstanding, perfectly located and exceptionally well-appointed. We were a group of 24, and the house accommodated us all comfortably with room to spare, perfect for our celebratory get together. The kitchen is a joy to cook in, the dining area was perfect for a large formal dinner, the bar and snug area is a lovely touch and the house is full of lovely spaces to spread out and relax, at no point did we feel on top of each other, which given the number of us in a house of this size was fantastic. The courtyard area in the middle of the house was lovely with the cherry tree just blossoming and the firepit perfect to gather around in the evening. The rear courtyard & pool area is a lovely sun trap and perfect for dining al-fresco (and easily accommodating a large number of people). The bedrooms were beautiful, lovely bedding & linen, and the bathrooms were all superb (the branded toiletries another nice touch). The overall style of the house is beautifully executed, with the modern furniture a lovely contrast to the character of the old building. Many of our number commented it was ‘the nicest/coolest house we’ve ever stayed in!’. We can’t to find another excuse to come back and stay again. Thanks for having us!

Stunning property

The property was immaculately clean and well-equipped. The house is pure luxury and on the whole, we did enjoy our stay. The kids enjoyed the pool and it was wonderful having a dining table that could easily seat all 20 of us. The housekeeper was so thoughtful and answered all our questions. She was a huge help with the one problem we did have with the property, which was the artwork. The artwork, in most of the common areas, was of naked women, with demonic faces, knives and dripping blood. Sadistic. One of the pictures looked liked a woman had been beheaded. We had young children in our party and they were scared to go in some of the rooms. None of the adults liked the artwork either. We couldn't relax whilst these pictures were up and we found the pictures disturbing. After a couple of days, I spoke to the housekeeper about this and she was wonderful. She kindly took the pictures down for us. This allowed us to enjoy being in the house for the rest of our stay. Apart from the artwork, we loved the house and I would absolutely recommend this property. You won't be disappointed. Please remove the artwork. It is not appropriate for young children or adults. Unless they have a sadistic nature.

Beautiful - the details & consideration put into the amenities make this 5 Star. Comfy arm chair in the lounge with the fire - the seating looks great but a comfy arm chair would be a great spot by the fire. Let people know the pools on!

Beautiful stay at ARC Painswick

We had the most amazing stay at ARC Painswick. The house is absolutely stunning and has everything you could think of. We hardly left the house over the weekend as we wanted to make the most of it. The check in/out process was really simple. The house is really near a bus stop which takes you straight to Cheltenham which was also really useful. Overall an amazing stay, thanks so much! Checkout at 10am was maybe a little too early, but apart from that, can’t fault it.

Absolutely beautiful property in idyllic Painswick

We stayed here as a company for our corporate summer event and it was the perfect house. It's finished to such a high standard and the property is beautiful throughout! Most of the rooms have en-suites and it is great for social gatherings! The pool was great and it was located right next door to a lovely country pub (which had great food!) I really recommend this property. You could have been a little more relaxed with the property as it felt a bit like we weren't to be trusted and were being babysat a bit - probably as we were a large group and the property is so lovely and new. But we actually really looked after the property and made sure to clean it well before we left so it would've been nice to not have such a worried booking process :) but I appreciate you're just looking out for the property!
