Easter break

Stable cottage was perfect for me and my family. A great location for venturing out and about. Added bonus of use of the tennis court, the gardens were amazing and waking up to the views was perfect. Had a great stay and will return.

A great cottage, situated in an absolutely idyllic, peaceful & tucked away location, yet within easy reach of nearby attractions. This really is a hidden gem of a property, which is an absolute credit to the owners, who were really friendly, helpful & hospitable. Thank you.

Low-key, relaxed cottage in the Cotswolds with excellent tennis court

Lovely cottage. Spacious main room; comfortable bedrooms; good bathrooms; beautiful area; and a fabulous private tennis court. Great bolt-hole! We loved it and plan to return.

Beautiful rural getaway

Beautiful rural home in idyllic surrounds. The house was very well finished, very comfortable and well equipped for self catering. The property is down a country lane close to beautiful village of Painswick, lots to do in the area. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

A true bolthole

We had a sunny week in this lovely quiet place, visiting villages and towns in the area. We loved the numerous walks in the area too, and found the local map and local walks books very useful. We had delicious meals at nearby pubs as well as using the barbeque at the property. The property was very comfortable and well equipped. We were sad to leave when our week was up.

Family break at Cotswold

Lovely cottage located very handy for most towns very good condition but unfortunately too much humidity on the rooms downstairs to the point that would be disturbing our sleep. Ok for a couple of days but wouldn't be possible to stay longer. For the money they charge this is poor value.

lovely retreat

Our family loved our stay in Stable Cottage. My daughter was thrilled to say hello to the cows in the field each morning, I was enamored by the Nespresso machine for my morning coffee, and my husband found the bed extremely comfortable. Coming from overseas, we were caught off guard in not having shampoo on site, but the welcome bottle of wine more than made up for it! The cottage is comfortable, cozy in all the right ways, and the property is beautiful and close to lots of places to explore. I've already recommended it to friends.

Lovely short stay

We had a good stay at Stable Cottage. It is in a peaceful setting, very close to beautiful Painswick and we made use of the fab tennis court and the local walks which are accessible immediately from the accommodation. Bedrooms were comfortable and had plenty of storage. The place was clean throughout. Downsides were the small dining table (it was a squeeze to get 5 of us round it even with one of the group being a child), lack of coffee table in the lounge area, rusty mirror in the main bathroom and the high risk of being burned by the immediate scalding water in the bathrooms - don't even think about standing under the shower if someone else is running a tap because you will be burnt as one of our group unfortunately was. Overall I would recommend this place but a few tweaks are needed for it to get a 5 star review.

Country location

Fairly spacious accommodation, in a nice rural setting let down by a few things. The downstairs (bedrooms and bathrooms) really smell (drains), especially at the back. We decided to use the 3rd bedroom as a luggage room as the smell was so bad there, and the kids shared the bunk room. Both my kids complained of uncomfortable mattresses, something which they have never done anywhere else. Both had springs and wires sticking out. Property had been superficially cleaned but we soon noticed cob webs everywhere, sticky chairs and grimy sofas. Although the barn is set withing nice grounds with far reaching views, these can only be accessed via the owners residence and cannot be appreciated from the rental. The barn itself is dark with no views at-all.

Wonderful stay at The Stables Freams Farm

The Stables at Freams Farm was the perfect location for relaxing, walking and exploring the Cotswolds. The accomodation has a living area, which is spacious and at the same time homely. This , together with the location, was the main reason for booking the Stables and it didn't disappoint. Situated away from the road it made for a peaceful and chilled stay. All our walks were straight from the front door to well marked footpaths. The Cotswolds Way is minutes from The Stables with several good route options. Sue and Peter are great hosts and easily contactable. Highly recommended

Such a shame our stay was spoiled

No WiFi and absence of basic toiletries (hand wash, shampoo, washing up liquid etc.) were main gripes. Luckily, there is a Tesco a few miles away, so we could buy tea towels etc. Broken cafetiere - owner tried to help and brought coffee pods. He also called his internet provider, but to no avail. Service from Bolthole Retreats was poor when we were called on the day of leaving to pay £60 for our dog that we believed had already been paid upon booking. Request for this to be waived given the circumstances was denied and we were bluntly told we should have just continued to call the owner (he was elderly and we didn't think this was fair after his third visit). Sorry, won't be returning, as level of experience and facilities did not reflect what we usually receive for the price paid when visiting The Cotswolds.
