Despite great service and staff (Cody, Tom, Pamela) at Eclat, our stay ended with a nightmarish checkout.
The hotel was in a great location with unique decoration and good service. Cody was considerate, and his recommendations for places and events made our stay very rewarding. Tom made us feel at home, and Pamela was helpful with an early check-in and kindness.
However, during checkout, Pamela demanded $500+ for a "missing" pen. We are used to dime-a-dozen Hyatt and Hilton pens. Since the pen was unmarked, the chance of it mixing with our belongings was high. We searched and could not find it. I assured Pamela that I would mail it if we found it. She insisted for the payment. I refused. The police were called, but they were 1.5 hours away. Not a good situation. My friend came back extremely mad and dumped all the contents of her purse on the counter; there was no sign of the pen. Later, she pulled the lining of her purse out to show nothing there.The pen popped out. The issue was resolved after 2 hours.
Moral of the story: if you stay at Eclat, the first thing you do is put their pen in the safe. Who put $500 unmarked pen in a hotel room?
