Location is far enough out that you feel away from civilization but can get to Franklin easily. View from porches is amazing. Family greatly enjoyed the hot tub and fire pit. Kitchen well equipped. Owner reached out during stay about pending storms moving through area which was greatly appreciated. My only advice for owner is to consider an emergency weather radio because if power is lost renters have no way to stay weather-aware and there may be renters not used to severe storm season. Other than that, we visited off-season and the small store nearby was closed for season. Just plan accordingly. We wish we could go back sooner but they are mostly booked through summer 2025!

The cabin itself is in immaculate condition...well made and SO clean. It was supplied with everything we needed. There are so many fun little details to discover from the gorgeous carvings in the fireplace mantle to the super awesome lamp bases. You can tell that Kathy and her crew puts a lot of love and attention to detail into this beautiful piece of paradise. We will definitely be coming back! ainattendeadetadetaipeaceful

This cabin was exactly what we needed and were looking for over the Thanksgiving holiday. The cool mountain air, stillness of Nantahala Lake, and quiet of the woods as exactly what we wanted. We enjoyed hanging out in the hot tub at least once a day everyday. (One of the cleanest and not over chlorinated hot tubs we’ve ever encountered at other rentals). Kathy was super communicative and very clear with all instructions. The lack of reception is not a joke, but the WiFi was great and I had no issues working remotely during my stay. Would definitely recommend and come back again!

We really enjoyed our stay. Everything was perfect. The owner gave us very informative notes and directions. She thought of everything we might need. She always replied immediately to any of my texts. It was one of the best places that I have stayed. I would definitely recommend it to anyone.

Every moment was magical! BEAUTIFUL VIEW of the lake and mountains. The cabin was well equipped with everything we needed. Instructions and recommendations were detailed and helpful. The light-up hot tub was fun and relaxing. Took a trip to Bryson City for lunch and ice-cream. We visited the beef jerky store and stocked up! Definitely on my list to go back and experience more mountain life like hiking, horseback riding and white water rafting! Big thanks to our gracious hostess!

Beautiful house, lovely view, prompt response by owner on any issues. Kitchen pans/pots could use an upgrade and there needs to be more plates/bowls for 8 people. However, those are super minor details and we would definitely stay there again!

This home is just breathtaking, we could not believe our eyes when we walked in. The photos could never do it justice, it is the most beautiful cabin we have ever seen and we cannot even describe the VIEW. We got lucky with sporadic periods of rain that made the mountains extra “smoky” and everything looked surreal! The inside of the home was spotless and the beds were very comfortable. The drive up to the cabin is well maintained and does not require AWD, we were able to drive up and down even with the rain in our FWD vehicle with no issues. Our only regret is not staying longer, just WOW!! Thank you for sharing this slice of paradise with us and we look forward to be back one day for a longer stay.

Great property. Excellent stay. The view! The only negative is that the air conditioner did not cool the upper level so it was very warm during our stay given the open floor plan and many windows that provide the million dollar view. May not be an issue at all most months, but with the hot, humid spell we are experiencing, it was not ideal. I would totally stay at Bear’s Liar again. It is very well done and comfortable.

Loved our stay in this cabin! We would definitely stay again if we could! Our family made wonderful memories here and at the Nantahala wedding venue where our daughter got married last weekend! The dock was perfect for all our family members and pontoons! The cabin was spacious, clean, and convenient to the venue! The views are simply AMAZING!!! We may even enlarge a picture of this view so we can see it all the time! We didn’t want to leave! Thank you SO much for this wonderful opportunity ! Deb and Paul (IL)

Our daughter was getting married at Nantahala Weddings. We wanted to be close. Can't get much closer than this property. Very clean, well appointed, and failry easy access. Ample.parking once up the hill. No cell coverage and the internet is spotty. Who needs it! Enjpy the view and the got tub instead. Owners were very nice and easy to contact. Just rent it and enjoy

Beautiful property that met all expectations. The view and home layout are the best we've seen in over 5 trips to the NC Mountains. Owner was responsive and helpful. Bottom line, we really enjoyed ourselves. Property is secluded to recharge, but close enough to activities when we wanted them. highly recommend!

Our son got married at Nantahala Weddings, and this home was a 1 minute drive to the venue - it couldn't have been more convenient. The place was as advertised with a great view of the lake. Everything was clean, and there was plenty of space for a family celebration. Thank you Kathy.

The owners were so accommodating since the moment we arrived at the property. People like this are hard to come by nowadays. Everything was clean, neat and in order! Everything that you needed was already in the Vrbo description so it was very helpful! The view was phenomenal, the lower and upper decks were absolutely stunning, the firepit area was perfect. The private dock right down the street was great and everybody enjoyed it. If you have younger kids coming to this property, just be aware that the driveway and drop off by the drive is only divided by a small wooden fence, so you have to make sure kids are watched at ALL TIMES. Our stay was great so thank you for having us! :)

We had such an incredible time at this cabin we hardly wanted to leave! We were provided with many resources and very thorough instructions. We loved the bear theme through the house and we felt right at home! Can’t recommend this place enough. 10/10!!
