We enjoyed a wonderful, comfortable stay in this beautiful home with a stunning view. We attended a wedding very nearby and loved being together to relax and connect in between festivities at this spacious cabin.The host provided excellent instructions and communications making it easy to highly recommend this cabin.

The location of the property to the wedding venue is very good, however, there is no walking to the venue. I searched from the house and the venue with no luck. The view is beautiful. Great view of the lake. The house itself is ok. But I’m giving an honest review. Furniture is very outdated and doesn’t fill clean. Master bedroom is in the back of the house with no view. Parking area is adequate. The road up to the house is steep and very uneven. The neighbors ran off the road and got stuck in front of our house. You have to turn around in the parking area to get out. There is no backing out without it being treacherous. I drive a 2500 had and it’s a six point turn around with one other car parked. The dock itself is in really good shape. Needs the name of the dock facing the water for pontoon boat delivery. The one car parking area for the dock is that, for a mid to smaller vehicle. I could not park my truck there without being stuck out in the road. Also, part of the parking area at the dock has collapsed into the water. I was very disappointed with that. The two rooms downstairs were good and the loft was good and all had good views of the lake. Back to the dock, there is absolutely no safe way to walk to the dock and it’s every bit of the quarter mile. The air works great. The carpet needs to be replaced. It’s coming apart in the living room. I’m not saying don’t rent this, just know what you’re getting. Kathy, the host was very nice and very responsive.

Great cabin on Lake Nantahala

This cabin worked very well for us as it was just a short walk or drive from Nantahala Weddings. Loved the wood paneling and ceilings. Kitchen was well equipped. Awesome view from the deck. And the dock with the kayaks was a nice way to spend a couple of hours.

This was such a fantastic vacation rental! This property is beautiful, peaceful, and well cared for. Kathy was wonderful about getting us all the information we needed and provided excellent recommendations for things to do in the area. Our wedding guests loved staying here and it was an easy walk to the Nantahala Weddings & Events venue. I would absolutely recommend staying at Bear’s Lair!

Great Place

Location is far enough out that you feel away from civilization but can get to Franklin easily. View from porches is amazing. Family greatly enjoyed the hot tub and fire pit. Kitchen well equipped. Owner reached out during stay about pending storms moving through area which was greatly appreciated. My only advice for owner is to consider an emergency weather radio because if power is lost renters have no way to stay weather-aware and there may be renters not used to severe storm season. Other than that, we visited off-season and the small store nearby was closed for season. Just plan accordingly. We wish we could go back sooner but they are mostly booked through summer 2025!

Amazing everything

The cabin itself is in immaculate condition...well made and SO clean. It was supplied with everything we needed. There are so many fun little details to discover from the gorgeous carvings in the fireplace mantle to the super awesome lamp bases. You can tell that Kathy and her crew puts a lot of love and attention to detail into this beautiful piece of paradise. We will definitely be coming back! ainattendeadetadetaipeaceful

Lake View Dreaming

This cabin was exactly what we needed and were looking for over the Thanksgiving holiday. The cool mountain air, stillness of Nantahala Lake, and quiet of the woods as exactly what we wanted. We enjoyed hanging out in the hot tub at least once a day everyday. (One of the cleanest and not over chlorinated hot tubs we’ve ever encountered at other rentals). Kathy was super communicative and very clear with all instructions. The lack of reception is not a joke, but the WiFi was great and I had no issues working remotely during my stay. Would definitely recommend and come back again!

Beautiful

We really enjoyed our stay. Everything was perfect. The owner gave us very informative notes and directions. She thought of everything we might need. She always replied immediately to any of my texts. It was one of the best places that I have stayed. I would definitely recommend it to anyone.

Magical

Every moment was magical! BEAUTIFUL VIEW of the lake and mountains. The cabin was well equipped with everything we needed. Instructions and recommendations were detailed and helpful. The light-up hot tub was fun and relaxing. Took a trip to Bryson City for lunch and ice-cream. We visited the beef jerky store and stocked up! Definitely on my list to go back and experience more mountain life like hiking, horseback riding and white water rafting! Big thanks to our gracious hostess!

Beautiful house, lovely view, prompt response by owner on any issues. Kitchen pans/pots could use an upgrade and there needs to be more plates/bowls for 8 people. However, those are super minor details and we would definitely stay there again!
