Like an escape room experience, you can leave this loft anytime you want. But also like an escape room, you will experience codes, lockboxes, missing items and general frustration with the check-in process. The instructions are lengthy, with many codes, and a buried code for a padlock that they supposedly texted to you an hour before check-in, but didn’t, and ominous warnings about finding and opening the lockbox the holds building key before leaving or risk being locked out, only to find an empty lockbox. And then there are the two parking permits that were supposed to be on the table. I worried that my car would be towed…but found a stack of blank permits in a drawer the next day.
The property itself is fine. The building is older and has a slightly haunted feel if you like that sort of thing. There are shops and a good brunch place on the ground floor, and the key to the building ended up being on the table. The unit was clean and bright. However, the upstairs main bedroom never fell below 77 degrees F in the summer…so if you need it to be cool while you sleep you are out of luck.
When I initially texted the number given, I got no response. When I sent a note through VRBO later, I started getting responses quickly and had my issues mostly resolved. It was clear, however, that this is a corporately managed unit. If you have a problem in the middle of the night, the owner will not be coming by to help you out…one of the main reasons I like VRBO.
