Enjoyed my stay
This is a unique property that is clean and well designed. I enjoyed sitting on the patio(s) for coffee in the morning and a glass of wine in the evening. It is located within a few hundred yards of some of the best local mountain biking and walking trails. This is a rural area that offers a great alternative to staying in Tucson. Highly recommend.

Studio Apartment
Great get away location away from city noise. Not a paved road getting close to location but our little car did ok. Its a sudio set up, not a 1 bedroom. Worked great with balconies to enjoy the view and outdoors. Bird watching was fun. Refrigerator very small if staying several days. Wish we could have made ice for drinks.

Relaxing Getaway
We stayed here for 5 days and used it as a base to visit the Greater Tuscon area. The place was very well furnished and spotless. Comfortable and cozy. It is far enough from the busy city, yet close to have everything you need nearby. We would definitely stay here again. While it does require that you drive on unpaved roads, the roads are crushed stone and in good condition.

Lovely “Treehouse”
We were visiting family in Oro Valley. This was our first time using VRBO. I had some initial questions before we arrived and Roger answered promptly. He was a great host! This little place was just what we wanted- and we enjoyed staying here. Very clean and equipped with everything we needed. It is a little tricky to get to as others have said. It’s close to some nice hiking trails. The view from the balcony was spectacular! So happy we stayed here!

Cozy and comfy
This place was perfect for what we needed. It was clean, comfortable, cozy, and quiet. We particularly enjoyed watching the wildlife including all the colorful birds and the javelina. Roger was a great host and he keeps his property up nice. The only reason I didn't give it five stars for location was because of the dusty roads to get up there and the stairs are tough on older folks. Otherwise this is a great place.

Great morning views
It's a little tricky to find the property, and the roads there are not paved, but that makes it a nice secluded spot. There is a flight of fairly steep steps to climb so be aware of that. The room itself is clean and the bed is comfortable. The kitchen has all the essentials. But the best part is the view of the mountains while we sat on the deck and drank our coffee.

Exceptional, quiet get away in desert landscape.
This was exactly what we were looking for in a several day get away in a quiet setting. The room was exceptionally clean and very well supplied, including water bottles and coffee machine cups. We enjoyed sitting on each of the two outside decks, watching 25 different birds in this desert landscape. The hosts were very pleasant. On future travels to this area we would likely return. It may be helpful to be aware that the unit is without wifi, and requires climbing 15 outside steps to access the unit.

Peaceful paradise
Gorgeous peaceful spot. Loved sitting on the porch every morning drinking coffee and watching birds. The apartment is spotless, comfortable, nicely decorated . Roger and his wife were friendly helpful and all around wonderful.

Great View
This property is a great place to stay. It’s clean and airy with bamboo and tile flooring, and up to date fixtures along with the large windows with a view of the Catalina Mountains that you can’t get at the large developments and resorts. Two decks, one for morning coffee looking at the mountains and the other for dinner watching the javelinas . We enjoyed our stay and we want to return.

This property is secluded but easy to find. The second story balcony allows for beautiful views of the Catalina mountains. The bed is super comfortable. Very quiet and restful place!

Lovely view
Quiet and peaceful. Coffee on the deck with such a great view and wildlife all around was a special way to start our day. Super clean and our host was awesome! A very comfy king sized bed, I slept like a babe!

Beautiful area in north Tucson
This apartment is comfortable, clean, and close to beautiful hiking in the Santa Catalina Mtns. In fact, you can walk to the 50 year trail and it's a short drive to Catalina SP. Owner is friendly and very responsive to questions. Loved the grounds of his place and views were incredible.

Perfect for Peaceful Getaway
I can't do anything but rave about this spot! 5 stars on all fronts, very nice and secluded, very well stocked, and comfortable bed! I will be coming back ASAP. Even as a Tucson local, this was the perfect distance to feel like I got away without having to make the time, travel, and cost of going to Phoenix. Well worth every penny!

Quiet & Well Appointed
This is a great place for couples or small families looking for a very peaceful get away, but near hiking trails and Tucson. Would not be good for young kids. The property has all the facilities you can think of and Roger, the owner, has thought of all the little things that make a good place, great! Bottled water, coffee pods, shampoos, zip lock bags... just really well stocked. Two lovely patios (one with a BBQ), where you can enjoy views of the Catalina Mtns over breakfast or dinner. Great place and I'm sure we'll stay again.

Comfortable, clean place to explore southern AZ
My husband and I enjoyed our visit to Roger's garage apartment so much. I had the best sleep I've had in a long time, as the bed was incredibly comfortable and the home very quiet. Much care has been given to make guests comfortable, from soft linens and towels, to on-demand hot water, to welcome snacks and bottled water, to outstanding cleanliness. The location is excellent for visiting the Catalina Mountains, one of the absolute highlights of our trip to AZ. We also visited Oracle State Park, stopping to eat at Roger's recommended Patio Cafe, which was delicious. We drove through Tucson to All About Trails horse ranch about an hour from the house to ride horseback through the Saguaro Desert at sunset. The home has a great view, though you can see the many surrounding houses, which I didn't realize from the listing. It is situated up a dirt road and we were glad we had rented an SUV since a couple sections are pretty steep. Even with the surrounding homes, some of which are quite close to the property, we enjoyed peaceful quiet and the morning sounds of birds and critters. Roger even has a water fountain that adds to the ambience. All in all, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this property and we are very glad we had the opportunity to stay here.

Peace and quiet
The unit is very isolated with great views. I really enjoyed sitting on the deck watching the wildlife. Javelina, lots of birds and event spotted a bobcat on the first day. There’s a grocery store nearby so did most of the meals onsite using the grill which seemed pretty new. Bed is super comfy. The owners are onsite in a separate unit and are willing to help out if needed otherwise you barely notice them. The drive up takes you on some dirt roads, it’s a fun experience.

I came to town for a wedding and was looking for a place outside of the main part of the city as I don’t like business of cities. This place fit the bill exactly! Very clean and the owner was very nice and responded quickly to any questions I had. If I ever have to go to Tucson again, this will definitely be the first place I look to stay!!!

Great Option Just North of Tucson
This is a comfortable, clean, well maintained property with amazing views! Roger was there to check us in and answer any questions. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and would highly recommend it to others. About 30-40 minutes to most of the gem shows we were attending; so a bit farther than anticipated ~ but that view of the Catalina Mountains ... well worth it!

Great property in quiet, beautiful setting
My husband and I spent 4 nights here on our first trip to Tucson. We came for sun and relaxation to get away from the rainy Seattle winter. We loved the location and spent much of our time on the 2 decks; one has a grill and table and chairs. Great wildlife and bird viewing as well as star gazing. You can hike in the area or drive to one of the many nearby parks. The apartment was immaculate, the bed really comfy, and the TV had dish so we could catch the Superbowl. There is also a DVD player and a huge collection of movies. The wifi worked well for us and we had cell service at the property. The appliances are full size except the fridge, so freezer space is limited. There was coffee, tea and water provided. We prepared most of our meals in, but there were restaurants and shopping about 15 min away and a plaza with a grocery store and quick food options even closer. Roger and his wife were gracious hosts and we plan to return to this property on our next trip to Tucson!

Nice Country Stay
Feels quiet and secluded but is just 5 minutes from shopping, restaurants and services, and another few minutes to Catalina State Park. Best for activities on the north side of Tucson, Catalina or SaddleBrooke. The interior is first rate. The owner is next door and very welcoming and accommodating. Though there are neighbors, this is a foothills location, not a place for after-dark strolls. Nice views at sunset. Only one caution: if you are a couple or family and don’t pack light, you may wish you had more closet and dresser space.

The property is quiet and private. The sunrises over the Santa Catalina's were amazing. The evenings were filled with star gazing and dessert sounds. The room is charming and cozy, it felt as if I were treehouse. Roger and Cynthia are wonderful people. Thank you for an amazing stay!

Wonderful!
Roger and his wife are great hosts. If you are looking for peace and quiet, a balcony with bbq and table and another balcony with a view to die for, this is your place! We saw a family of javelinas, quail, two coyote, and at night stars and more stars since light pollution is minimal. The place is super clean and stocked with everything you need even coffee. Basha supermarket is five minutes down the hill by car, a great place to pick up a cooked dinner.

Clean well done studio.
The design of this studio was well thought out. It was clean and had lovely views. One thing I would advise to future renters; if coming from Tucson, take Golder Ranch Rd. My GPS sent me up Wilds Rd. which seemed like a class 4 dirt road. I ended up damaging the bumper of my rental car which cost me $300. Property was also difficult to locate, but that could be due to my poor night vision. Other than that, this is a fine place to spend a few nights.

Relaxing and peaceful
We had a great stay! The Thornvolds were awesome hosts who know the area well. There’s also a small family of Javelinas that stay on the hillside if you’re lucky enough to spot them. We look forward to coming back again next year when we’re in town for the gem show. Thanks again for a great stay!

Cozy and clean with great views
We had a lovely stay for a few days during the Tucson gem show. It was extremely clean and comfortable with everything we needed. The loft cottage was well appointed and had obviously been built with care. Thank you, Roger, for a wonderful place to call home temporarily!
