After two weeks in standard hotel rooms, we decided to end our vacation with our 7- and 10-year old grandchildren at a place where we could spread out and do some home cooking. We had no problem getting into the unit, but were a bit dismayed to see a steep flight of stairs inside. Despite the fact that we are in our mid- to late-70's, we were able to carry everything up and then back down; but it was a chore. This unit is over 100 years old, and the heavy layers of wall paint and squeaky and slanting floors attest to this. Some people would say that it adds to its charm. The a/c worked well (a bit loud in the kitchen), the beds were comfortable, and the unit itself has been updated. One thing lacking was a table and chairs where we could sit to eat, but there was a desk in one of the bedrooms, and four chairs in total that we dragged out into the living room so we could eat together. We had planned to do some laundry, but the dryer is one of the ventless ones that takes forever for clothes to dry. We opted to wait until we got home so we could finish our laundry more quickly. All in all, this was not a bad place to stay. Beware that the parking is by permit on weekdays, but does not seem to be enforced. Opposite street side restrictions for cleaning on Wednesdays and Thursdays need to be followed.
