Absolutely beautiful property with unique ambiance and interesting history. We loved walking around and enjoying all of the art work by the talented Tina Mion, as well as the architecture and period furniture. Check out that second floor for her gallery though it is pretty cool.
The Turquoise Room does not disappoint and we had a fabulous dinner (order those squash blossoms) with amazing service. I also tried the signature soup and while it was not for me, my husbands mole dish was really tasty. Their cocktails were a treat after a long drive.
Gift shop was loaded with goodies and the morning brought a nice coffee/tea station.
Our room was not large by any means, but the bed was comfortable. Do yourself a favor and put in the earplugs before you go to bed. I struggled with the noise from the trains, however hubby slept right through.
All in all it was really just a lovely experience and it would be a pleasure to stay again. Make sure to walk the grounds, sit in the quiet areas and watch the videos, grab a game and play, browse the art and listen to the acoustic guitar player if he is there. The museum behind the hotel is super cool so leave time for that also. These types of places are slowly being removed so enjoy the experience!
