Relaxing getaway

Would rent again any time
We had a great stay. The weather cooperated and we could use the 3 spacious patios to the fullest. The view is outstanding and the cabin is remote yet really close to amenities and shopping. Great times had by all.

Friendship and relaxation
This was an absolute gem of a place to stay near Shenandoah. It was the perfect location for many activities and things to do. The house itself had everything you would ever need and looked just as advertised on the photos. The host was really helpful and communicative. Favorite thing was sitting in the hot tub at night and looking at the stars. Thank you for an incredible trip we will never forget!

We can’t say enough good things about this property and the owners. It was immaculate and has everything you need for a peaceful stay. Every room was extremely comfortable and modern. The little nearby towns are also wonderful and welcoming. It was our first trip to the region but definitely not our last!

A gem
What a beautiful place! The hosts have thought of everything — towels for the hot tub, seating everywhere to take in the views, books and pamphlets so you can explore the area, precise directions and instructions. We had a wonderful stay in this extremely comfortable home; we will be back. PS We had absolutely no issues with the road, despite a very hard rain overnight.

Spotless, comfortable, nicely decorated, beautiful views, plenty of space. They aren’t kidding when they say you need all wheel drive to get up to the place. The owners put a lot of thought and effort into the place and it shows.

Beautiful, clean, and quaint.
We loved our stay at Deer Haven cabin. The views are spectacular and every season in this cabin must be picture perfect. We spent our first Christmas away from home and thoroughly enjoyed our time. Hiked, Skied, and cooked our Christmas dinner in the cabin kitchen which had everything we needed. Hot tub in the evenings felt wonderful in cold nights and sore hiking muscles. No snow so their drive up to the cabin was not a problem on our 4wheel drive. Water was just fine, All in all, loved our stay.

Amazing
My family had such a nice time and the property and location are amazing. We will definitely stay here again! The driveway going up to the house is steep and a little rough at parts. I would recommend a larger vehicle as my car bottomed out on a rock or two. Other than that it was absolutely amazing!

Great little get-away!
We had an EXCELLENT time during our stay. The property was exactly as advertised. Hot tub worked great and the views were spectacular. 10-12 minutes from amenities/grocery stores with several vineyards and distilleries within a 15-20min drive. Would absolutely stay here again!

Amazingly beautiful!!!
The property was beautiful, completely beautiful!!! We like to come to the area this time of year to see all of the leaves changing and falling and just take in the amazing surroundings. I can definitely say this has been a favorite. The view was just amazing. When we weren't out hitting the shops and trails, I could have just sat on the porch and took in the view all day. The cabin was perfect for us because we have 9 yr old twins and 2 older boys, 23 and 17, the layout gave them space and we could keep the little ones close to us. It feels like home when your there. Everything was comfortable, there were no complaints. We always joke about which cabin we would buy if we could from our trips and this was absolutely my favorite!!! Thank you so much, it was truly amazing!!!

Relaxing long weekend
Everything was as advertised. Gorgeous view and a lovely property to walk. May be the most secluded home we've stayed at and that was lovely. Definitely a good feel for getting away from it all. Bumpy way up the mountain. We were glad to have our all wheel drive. Across 3 beds, every one of us commented on how comfortable the beds and the linens were to sleep in. Well stocked kitchen allowed us to make all meals (except one dinner out) at the house. Highly recommend as a lovely space to escape to.

Perfect Weekend Getaway with Friends
The house was exactly what you see in the pictures. Eveything was clean. This was by far the most well stocked kitchen we have seen in any rental. The beds were comfortable. The hot tub was fantastic. The view from the top of the mountain was spectacular and worth every bit of the 5 minute drive up. We wish we could have used the fire pit but it was too windy. We loved sitting on the deck reading and drinking coffee.

House with great view
My family and i really enjoyed the property, nice size and very clean rooms, 3 bathrooms, great views, nice size deck and good size property, the only problem is getting up the hill because the roads are not paved, didn't have an iron and ironing board and when we first got there could not find the location, but when we called John Favarro he was extremely helpful in helping us find the place which we were very grateful, we would definitely go back to that location again because of the great views and property and the host was easy to communicate with

Family Getaway
Beautiful property! Views are amazing! The hot tub was a lovely addition that our family enjoyed very much. Clean home and plenty of space for a large family (like my own) or a group of friends. Hard to get up into home but that was definitely covered in the directions and information so we had no trouble. Awesome place and VERY remote for escaping reality. 🙂

Family vacation in the mountains
We really enjoyed our stay. The house had plenty of room for our group of 5. We enjoyed our mountain view both morning with the bird song and evenings with the sunsets. We enjoyed fires at night in the firepit and on our last night fun in the hot tub. Some helpful critiques are to make sure you have 4 wheel drive for all seasons, because the road leading up to the driveway as well as parts of the driveway is badly in need of work. Also, not all the jets are working in the hot tub and the temperature would not go lower than 100°, so we couldn't set it to the 95° stated in the packet. We enjoyed Shenandoah National Park, checked out a winery one day and Luray Caverns another day. All in all it was a wonderful relaxing vacation!

Family Getaway with Great Views
My family stayed at Deer Haven for a long weekend. The road to the house is no joke but the views at the top are totally worth it! The owners sent a super helpful welcome packet a few weeks before check-in which we really appreciated. We visited Shenandoah National Park and Luray Caverns while enjoying the hot tub and fire pit at night. We also checked out the flea market and went out to eat in nearby Woodstock. The house had plenty of room for us to spread out if needed and lots of space to gather to watch the sunset or play board games. I would love to go back in the fall!

Very pleasant stay
The only downside to Deer Haven is the bumpy mountain road to get there - but that should be expected. Once you arrive however, it is an absolutely stellar experience! We arrived to a very clean home, with fantastic views of the valley. Privacy was great, and the weather was wonderful. I enjoyed waking up and sipping coffee on the front balcony, and my wife and I enjoyed the hot tub in the evenings. We will definitely be considering staying here again!

Deer Haven Stay and Impressions
My party enjoyed our stay very much. No major issues. The few minor issues: 1.) The hot tub nozzles only functioned on one side of the hot tub. 2,) The access road was somewhat difficult, but we were able navigate it. Decided not to attempt to travel on it after dark. 3.) As I was notified in the instructions, the water had a slight odor. We came prepared with plenty of bottled water. But let me address the positive aspects of our stay. Everything was as advertised. Only surprise was the access road, but it was as advertised. This is a beautiful setting, with the perfect house for the site. Fantastic views, well-groomed landscaping, lots of deck space. Well supplied with all of the necessities for preparing and serving meals. We hope to be able to return to the area in the future. We'll stay here again, if it's available. Great accommodations. Recommend it very highly!! e

Beautiful views and great house
We had a terrific stay at this property, which was an easy two hour drive from DC. The views were stunning and the house was very clean and had everything we needed for a nice vacation with our infant and preschooler. The kitchen was well stocked and we enjoyed using the pancake griddle for breakfast. There were great hikes, walks, restaurants, and vineyards within a 10-15 minute drive. This was one of the best properties we’ve rented and we hope to return soon!

Enjoyed but be prepared!
After multiple flight delays we finally arrived at Dulles at midnight. Putting us in Edinburg at 1:30am. Unless familiar with this place, I would not recommend trying to get to property that late. It was very difficult to navigate (there's no road, but a trail) there's zero light. Zero food options as well. Be sure to stop at Woodstock exit to get food prior. Once arrived, it's amazing. Cabin & scenery is gorgeous. Clean & very nicely arranged to be comfortable. Now we know what to expect, we will definitely be back! Just wanted others to be more prepared than we were! :-)

This home was beautiful and had wonderful scenic views since the home was located on the side of the mountain range. The property was clean when we arrived and the property owners were quick to respond to text messages. Fairly close to all the attractions we were looking for. It was a great time!

Mountain Paradise
We had the best stay at Deer Haven! My only complaint is that we had to leave! The fire pit and hot tub were our nightly favorite activities and the evening sunsets were spectacular! I would highly recommend this property to anyone wanting to hide away in the mountains for a few days!

Idyllic stay in gorgeous surroundings!
We had a lovely stay over two nights here. The view from the main bedroom is stunning, and the cabin has all the amenities you need for a comfortable trip. Communication from the hosts was timely, and they provide a helpful guide of local shops/hikes. Would definitely visit again!

Great Weekend Getaway

Beautiful and peaceful
Spectacular views, a giant couch with good reading lights, a very comfortable bed, a nice fire place which we used a few times, and a great hot tub. There was ice on the road on the steep part at the top which prevented us from getting all the way up, even with 4WD, so we parked and carried stuff (about 1/3 of a mile RT). The owner I spoke with was very apologetic that it hadn’t been plowed. Without ice, you can definitely get up the road, but you would want 4WD in the winter. Even with that, we totally loved our stay. Great hiking nearby.

Dream home
This place is so nice, cozy, and perfect for the family. John was great and communicative, the place was clean, and we felt welcomed and right at home. The hot tub is so nice and the view is awesome. Getting up the path is not bad, I was able to get up easily with my VW Atlas FWD, but that was with good weather. If it’s snowing, an AWD is definitely recommended.

I thought the house was beautiful, I love the rustic wood feel and the scenic views. You definitely need a truck to get up there or something 4 wheel drive but it was worth it. We visited a different restaurant every day in town and relished in the natural quiet at night.

A relaxing getaway in a beautiful location
We thoroughly enjoyed this property. I spent three nights here with my family including our 3 month old baby and we were all very comfortable. Lovely location
We really enjoyed our stay here. The view is beautiful and we loved the out of the way location. One note is that you may want to bring bottled water. The tap (well) water is a bit sulphuric so it’s not pleasant to drink. The sulphur also makes it very soft water, so it’s nice on your hair. If you’re into that sort of thing. 😄

A Great Get-A-Way
We were looking for a scenic place to get-a-way for a few days with friends from college. This was the perfect spot. The views were magnificent, the information provided to us before and during our stay about the property from the owners and about things to do in the area were extensive and very helpful. The place was well-equipped and provided all the comforts that we hoped to find. On top of everything else, the weather was perfect! Note: both couples drove SUVs, which was very helpful as the road to the cabin might be a challenge in bad weather; the owners were very specific about that in their information, so it was not a surprise to us.
