I would have never expected that anything filthy like this exists in New Zealand and is listed on Expedia. I booked 3 Deluxe Rooms. What we found was a run down filthy place and only one room booked for us, although I was charged for 3 "Deluxe Rooms" . We were offered one additional room, which was a "Family Room" with 5 beds, which we then had to share. We have never seen anything as bad as this before. On top of this it was unbelievably noisy, right above their pub with loud music and yelling and shouting until late at night.

Stayed there for 2 nights. Booked approx 2 months before but when we arrived they had no details of our booking so we were forced to wait for nearly an hour til the staff were able to contact the manager. Noise from other guests was a problem both nights. Due to very noisy music in the hotel car park we were unable to sleep and we were forced to ring noise control. Noise stopped 20 mins later. Meals in the restaurant were good value, we ate there both nights.

Do not stay there!! The pictures online of the rooms do not in any way show what an appalling state that they are in. The staff had no idea that we were booked in, they sent a staff member to make sure there were towels in the room and the beds were made. A refund was not offered but I hope it will be as these rooms were disgraceful. I was out of my comfort zone to say to the staff, that no way would I be in a room with the mold, the smell, which was indescribable, and more so the uncleanliness of the bathroom area. I have been to public toilets better than that!!! The only upside was the location. I told the Lady staff member...who was lovely, that I do not class myself as a snob.... that I have stayed in some rough places over my time, but this was not for a human to pay to stay in. Sleeping in our car and using amenities at a servo would off been better. We walked out and got accommodation elsewhere.

During my 2 month travel across NZ this was the worst place. Dirty, loud, staff not really helpful. Just avoid it.

The hotel itself is a part of Dargaville historic place. But the condition inside the room needs refurbishments.

Love staying at these types of Hotels. A step back in time. Although sharing facilities, never ever a problem, sometimes the only couple there!

Typical 1800's Country Town Pub. Showing wear and tear, but it was a quaint experience. The dining room is the best part of the hotel. Friendly local people. We had a quiet night and slept well in our room. The water is nice and hot, plus ability to boil a jug in the kitchenette.

It was great to stay in a heritage 2 listed building but it comes with the down side of not being well maintained. If you like cheap and cheerful this was a good option.

Old and out dated not a problem but a coat of paint in the rooms would have made a huge difference and airing the rooms out would have been nice. The smell in the rooms were horrible. Bed was comfortable though.
