Staff were helpful enough and breakfast was decent but it's a very tired hotel. That said, it's well located and everything worked as it should.

We were not advised that the kitchen was closed throughout our stay which was inconvenient. The property was not in good condition, particularly the bathroom. Nice location. Great staff. Quality has dropped since our last visit 12 months ago.

The room was really dated, lots of damaged paintwork, tile edging loose and generally quite run down. The hallway carpet had been repaired with tape. Sadly and we were told unusually the noise from the high street continued after venues had closed at 1am until 330am and so we had little sleep as the street started up with deliveries etc by 7am. The staff assured us this was unusual and apologised but I do think some soundproofing needs to happen in the windows as we could hear everything and at one point if felt like people were in the room.

Old charming building, which is quirky but this building needs serious investment and updating. Our room was up some steep steps and the room just left me feeling anxious. The bed was a small double and all looked a bit dated. The bath is also blocked so you end up standing in a bowl of water as you shower. The staff were very friendly and helpful and genuinely wanted to help, you should value them more. This could be a fantastic hotel but currently falls short of what I would expect for the money.

I rang them up to inform them I'd be arriving around 3am due to work. They gave me a number to call and the lady let me in. Lovely staff, breakfast good. Cosy room, no complaints. Thanks for helping out at short notice.

Lovely history and nice to see our heritage being used in the 21st century. The building could do with some serious restoration though. Not just a lick of paint. A complete rethink of the room layout. Our room, unfortunately, was right by the air conditioning system and it hummed all night. Ear plugs did the trick! Would appreciate a hand shower as well as the fixed overhead as I don't always want to wash my hair every time I shower. Most hotels have both. No chef, so only breakfast available. Shame as we have eaten here in the past and always had no problems. A lift to the rooms should be a serious consideration as the steps are very steep in places. Not really suitable for carrying luggage around. Celia carried our luggage to our room. Thank you 😊. Never would have been able to do it ourselves. All staff were very friendly and helpful.
