Consejos para un viaje de carro alrededor de Monterrey

Monterrey is a wonderful place, with many cultural, architectural, museum, and activities to do. But, sometimes, the routine of life in the city asks us to get away, at least for a while, rent a car and go out on the road to a destination that allows us to relax, see something different from everyday life. Around Monterrey there are many interesting places that we can reach in a short time driving to spend a pleasant day or weekend. In this article, you will see what to do near this city.

We started with a day trip just outside Monterrey, a little getaway to do on the day. You can go to the Chipinque ecological park, which is located just 15 minutes from the city center, in the Sierra Madre Oriental: here various activities are carried out in nature, such as fauna and flora watching, outdoor games and excursions to viewpoints that will allow you to contemplate beautiful landscapes. Another very close destination (just 9 km from Monterrey) is Cola de Caballo, an impressive waterfall over 25 meters high, located in a beautiful park where you can spend a beautiful afternoon.

If your road trip (started after taking advantage of the car rental offer in Monterrey ) can be extended a little more, let’s say a weekend, we recommend that you visit Villa de Santiago, a colonial enclave, located just 45 minutes from the city, which has beautiful landscapes, beautiful architecture (Plaza Ocampo stands out, surrounded by shops and galleries, the Parroquia de Santiago Apóstol and Callejón de Santiago), traditional meals and outdoor activities (in the nearby Chipitín Canyon and that of Matacanes). Also, one of the most outstanding cities near Monterrey for a getaway is San Pedro de Garza García. At just 11.5 km, it is an ideal destination to go shopping, enjoy gastronomy or go dancing.

If you have a little more time for your car trip, let’s say a long weekend, then do not stop traveling to Parras de la Fuente. This is an oasis in the desert, just over 200 km from Monterrey, and is the heart of a wine-growing area where you can, apart from drinking its excellent wines, get to know the vineyards and wineries, as well as different attractions of colonial architecture. Finally, we recommend you, especially if you love paleontology, go to General Cepeda. Less than two hours from the city, in this place you will see numerous fossil remains (dinosaur eggs, footprints and bones of prehistoric animals), as well as rocks engraved with different drawings made by ancient inhabitants of the region.

Well, we have already shown you the best you can do near Monterrey. Cultural activities, outdoors, shopping, dancing outings: in the vicinity of this city you have everything you need to distract yourself during an afternoon or a weekend. What are you waiting for? Take advantage of the car rental offers and enjoy everything this part of Mexico has to offer!
