“I gave only 4 stars, although it could easily be five except for the following. I arrived late afternoon and only had an hour to freshen and get to a funeral. The setting/location was peaceful. I went up the stairs and noticed right away the deck and furniture had not been cleaned or swept, big black ants everywhere and spider webs in the corners. NOPE. “The house was beautiful and had so many provisions not listed, right down to shampoo that we had forgotten. The host.was very accommodating and let us check in early on Friday. We come here every year. We will definitely be back to this house next year and we're actually thinking about returning this summer trying to find some open dates that she has. “The house itself was very clean, well stocked. It was easy to check in, plenty of space for our family. The owner checked in to make sure everything was ok upon check in and throughout our stay. The neighborhood was just ok, one evening a neighbor was looking right into the house through the kitchen window, so it would have been nice to have a privacy blind on it. That was my only issue with the house.”

“We really enjoyed staying at the Tar Heel House. It was just what we were looking for on our long weekend getaway with friends and family. It’s nestled back in the woods which gives you the feeling of being in the mountains. Every room in the house offered amazing views of the lake. Easy access putting the boats in at the marina.
