Property is exactly as listed and looks just like the pictures. I was so happy to find a high chair there to use for my 10 month old. Short walk to the beach, the beach cart with balloon tires was extremely helpful to use as well. House is in a nice area. We liked that it was a 3min drive to Food Lion and there were several shops and seafood markets very close by. We spent a good bit of time in the gameroom and hot tub in the evenings. The luggage lift was a LIFE SAVER!!! Especially with the 3 different floors of the house. The property manager checked in with me the day of check-in and was super responsive to my questions throughout our stay. Would definitely recommend.

Great stay!

My family and I really enjoyed our stay at Salty Piece of Land. The house is exactly as advertised. Plenty of room for the entire family. Great location with an easy walk to the beach. And convenient to restaurants, grocery store and shops. We walked for ice cream several evenings and for coffee and breakfast one morning. The game room was also a fun activity for the evenings and a rainy day. The host was fantastic and very easy to work and communicate with. We could definitely stay here again.

Great house

We enjoyed our stay at a Salty Piece of Land! The location is great with close access to the beach, restaurants, and ice cream. The kitchen is well stocked and the layout is great for multiple families. The only complaint is that towels are not provided. That should be highlighted in the description so people can plan accordingly. We hope to be back!

Another great stay

This is the second year we have stayed at this great cottage. It has wonderful rooms and plenty of bathrooms. The owner is great to work with and would recommend it highly as a great destination if you are looking for a place in Avon

Had a Great Time!

Great stay for a group of 10 friends. Enough room for all of us to stay comfortably and have our own space. The pool table, foosball table, hot tub, and fire pit were all a fun time. Proximity to the beach made this the perfect place to stay, along with all the included beach gear. Communication with the host was great, very fast responses to any questions we had.

Perfect OBX family vacation spot!

Incredible house! We stayed here for one week and loved every minute. The house is perfect for families and children. We had three couples and five kids there - plenty of space and privacy for all. Every detail to help make your stay a great one has been considered by this host. I recommend highly, we would love to rent this house again.

Great Family Getaway

The house and everything in was just as advertised. Plenty of room for my family. Great views of the ocean from the 3rd floor deck and crow’s nest. Furnishings were nice and comfortable. The walk to/from the beach was a bit longer than expected but having the hot tub available at the end of a day on the beach made you forget the walk quickly. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the “Salty Piece of Land.”

Wonderful stay

The house was amazing - by far one of the cleanest and most comfortable we have ever stayed at. Plenty of room for 8 people, comfortable beds and furniture, lots of thoughtful touches throughout that made our stay very enjoyable. The outdoor decks were great, and we especially enjoyed a fantastic view of the fireworks on July 4 from the top deck. A highlight was also the close walking proximity to the ice cream shop and bakery. The neighborhood pool is also very nice. Communication was excellent! I would highly recommend!!!

Exceptional Experience in Avon

We had an amazing time at A Salty Piece of Land. The house is very well appointed and just a short walk to the beach. We had plenty of space to spread out and enjoy the multiple decks, hot tub and game room. The only complaints we heard came from our three year old nephew who felt the game roim had too many games and the beach had too much sand! The teenagers on the trip felt both were just right. Teresa was exceptional to work with and responded immediately to all my questions. We started discussing another trip next year since everyone had such a great experience!

Perfect getaway

We had an amazing time this week even though the weather didnt work out for us so much. Our kids never got bored with all of the games that were downstairs. (even the adults were caught playing) We even had one of our beach chairs break while we were there but luckily the host has extras at the house for you to use. The kitchen was well stocked with anything you needed. The views of the ocean for the sunrise is amazing. Wish we could have stayed longer

Wonderful location!

Great property for our family of 12! We all had our own space and the outdoor shower was a hit coming in from the beach. The beach was just a quick walk and that was nice. We really enjoyed the multiple deck levels to just sit and enjoy the ocean breeze and family time. A huge shout out to the owner!! She was quick to respond EVERY TIME I had a question and we really appreciated that! I don’t think we could have found a better place to stay for our family!!!

Great Beach House!

We REALLY enjoyed our stay. We vacationed for a week with my extended family (my wife and three kids, my parents, plus my sister and her husband). It was AWESOME to have a king bed and bathroom in each of the couples' rooms plus a bathroom in the bunk-bed room (for the boys), not to mention the bathroom in the game room and living room. The pool table and foosball table were a great addition for the boys to enjoy as well. The hot tub and outdoor shower were wonderful, too. The kitchen was well-stocked (coffee maker, toaster, blender, pots, pans, etc. - everything you could need)

Memorial day get away

Our family loved this house and it was easy access to the beach. We love this beach area because it is huge. It was a rainy weekend but with the game room was great. The kitchen, dining area, bedrooms, and bathrooms are top notch. We hope we can return in the future.

Fishin’ Weekend with the Boys

We are repeat guests of Salty Piece of Land, and there’s a reason for that. The proximity of the home, the amenities, the house layout, all of it; meets all of our needs. Great fishing straight out from the house, Frank and Frans tackle shop a short walk away, off-road ramps nearby in both directions; perfect for what we need. The house itself is clean, well-maintained, and spacious. We had 10 guys on the trip this year, and every single one loves it. Thank you again to Teresa for being a great host as well! Even the neighbors are great! Looking forward to next year’s trip already!

Great atmosphere! Our family of 11 had a blast!

We really enjoyed our family stay. Short walk to beach. Coffee in the morning and cocktails at night on the deck looking at the ocean was relaxing. Bedrooms each having own bathroom was awesome! Kids really enjoyed the game room! Highly recommend renting Salty Piece of Land! Great memorable experience!

Heaven on earth!

From the moment we arrived everything was perfect! The view was gorgeous from the main living area and outside porch and look-out, the house was well designed and thoughtfully laid out for a large family hoping to relax and enjoy the beach. The owners were wonderful to deal with and answered all of our questions. The neighborhood was so sweet and quiet in the evenings that you could hear the ocean waves crashing. We bicycled at night to the local "Cups and Cones" ice cream parlor. There is also a surf shop adjacent to that where we rented windsurfers and paddle boards. We could not have asked for a more perfect spot to enjoy our beach vacation!

Amazing vacation home that offers everything you need.

Salty Piece of Land is such an amazing property. So much thought and detail has gone into furnishing and equipping this home. It has everything you need from the beach supplies (cart, umbrella, chairs, boards, etc.), to a fully equipped kitchen. The bedrooms all have their own private full baths and really comfy beds. The tiki bar / game room was the best party spot on the island! The kids especially enjoyed playing foosball! The house has a lot of stairs, but the top floor open concept kitchen/dining/living room offered us a space large enough for eating and gathering with additional family. The decks offer amazing views. We enjoyed watching both sunrises over the ocean, and sunsets over the sound, from the crows nest - fantastic pictures! I would highly recommend this clean/well kept home if you are looking for a place to stay on the Outer Banks! The owner was great and communicated all needed information. This was one of our family's best vacations!! We are looking forward to staying here again, for sure!

Paradise Found

This was our first trip to the OBX and boy are we glad we chose Hatteras island! This area brings back that nostalgic beach vacation feel of childhood! The location of “a salty piece of land” is PERFECT! Walking distance to the beach, breakfast, and Nightly ice cream! The house itself is immaculate and has everything you could need including surf boards which my older som had a blast with! We traveled with our adult son, his girlfriend, and our ten year old son. There was more than enough space for everyone. The game room was a plus for sure and kept the kids occupied in the evening before dinner! Avon beach is gorgeous, and there were two areas of shallow sand bars where the tide was gentle (open water does have riptides so be careful.. we grew up near the ocean) Walks on the beach in the morning were amazing as was star gazing at night! We had a fire on the beach and saw many shooting stars! We also saw some from the top deck of the house!! The beach is very wide and you will never feel cramped! If you bring bikes you can ride to souvenir shops and to get coffee and pastries in the morning. If you don’t bring your bike there are rental places within walking distance. My older son rented an ocean kayak and had fun with it, again, use caution if you’re not used to open ocean. We brought a paddle board and were able to take that out on the ocean, but you could go for miles on the sound side! My little guy also enjoyed the pool with my husband which was warm and only a 3 minute drive. There was a food lion close by to stock up on food if needed. For food “PoHouse” was amazing! We ate there 3 nights in a row, nice sunset there too! There are multiple 4wd beaches close by… the sand was soft when we went so make sure you air down to at least 20 PSI! We took a side trip to Okracoke which honestly, I would skip. It’s small and there’s not much more to do than what’s at your fingertips on Hatteras Island. We enjoyed the home’s hot tub at night while our dinner settled in prep for our nightly ice cream journey to cups and cones! We slept like bricks in the comfy beds and watched the sunlit sky from the deck(s) in the morning. Being from the north, an outdoor shower is always a treat and this one did not disappoint! Very roomy! There were times where everyone showered at once (in separate showers) and there was NO issue with hot water or pressure! If you’re looking for a place to get away from it all, a “salty piece of land” is the place!

Exceeds Expectations!

My dad, brothers, and buds do an annual fishing trip every April, going offshore and fishing the surf. The location was perfect, as we were split up, some going out of Oregon Inlet FC and some out of Hatteras. Also great proximity to The Point, but also provided great surf fishing straight out from the house. We caught 3 puppy drum Sunday morning before leaving, one falling into the slot to keep. Teresa and her husband were excellent communicators; they were prompt with responses to questions, and would periodically reach out to check on us to make sure we were having a good time and everything was ok. Our whole group kept complimenting how nice this home was this year, and we will most definitely look at coming back next year! 10/10 would recommend! Thank you, Teresa!

Perfect stay

The house was beautiful and updated, also had anything and everything we needed for our stay. The owner was great about letting me know anything I needed to know and very friendly. Highly recommend this house and will definitely stay there again.
