Gorgeous view from the top floor. Property was easy to access, but still felt remote. Kitchen had everything you could want or need to cook a great Thanksgiving meal. Owners were great and worked to make our stay peaceful and restful.

The home was amazing. Beds were super comfy. Everything was pristine clean. The hot tub was a great way for everyone to relax after a long hike to the Catawba Falls. Then we have the amazing view from the back deck. Unbeatable beauty. The house had everything you needed. Fully stocked kitchen, plenty of towels in the bathrooms, plenty of seating for everyone to hang out together. Literally the only complaint I have is the curtains in the bedrooms on the main floor not covering the windows all the way. The deck wraps around in front of the bedroom window and didn't allow much privacy when changing clothes while other people in our group were outside on the deck. Not a super huge deal and could be easily fixed with one more curtain panel. But if a curtain was the only thing I was concerned about then I'd say we hit the jackpot with this stay. We would absolutely stay again. We weren't far away from the things we wanted to do like hiking and touring the Linville Caverns. We had the absolute best time and it far surpassed our expectations.

One our best vacations ever!

We had an amazing time for our family trip with me, my husband, and our 3 adult daughters and their spouses! The Troutmans were fabulous to work with and immediately answered any questions we had when making the reservations and for our trip. The house was meticulously clean, very comfortable (the beds were terrific), supplied with everything we needed, and plenty big that everyone could spread out and have their own space. We will definitely be back.

We had an absolutely wonderful stay!

We had an absolutely wonderful stay! The cabin was cozy, beautifully maintained, and the views were stunning. My husband took advantage of the nearby hiking trails, the kids loved having their own space, and I enjoyed some much-needed relaxation with my books. It was the perfect getaway for our family. We can’t wait to come back!

Fantastic Stay

This is an amazing property. The hosts have thought of absolutely everything from the beautiful, comfortable furnishings to the extensively stocked kitchen. Check in/check out was incredibly easy. Fantastic Mountain Home

We had a great time at this fantastic property. The views were amazing and the covered porch was our favorite place to hang out. It was clean and very comfortably set up. We all enjoyed relaxing at this amazing location. We especially enjoyed the hummingbirds that would buzz around every day We hope to come back next summer!

Mountain Breezes

The house was perfect for us to enjoy the views and morning breezes, then close to the campground where we hung out for the day with family, then back to the cabin for a hot soak and good nights rest. The kitchen was wonderfully stocked and the beds were very comfortable!

Fabulous family friendly cabin with long range views

We rented cabin as a base cabin for the Hellbender 100 ultra! The cabin had everything we needed. It was clean and comfortable! The views were the best part. We would definitely stay again.

A wonderful place to get away

This is now our third time visiting the cabin, and every time it has been fantastic. The hosts are very responsive and will do everything possible to accommodate your needs. I highly recommend this for anybody that wants to get disconnect from the daily grind.

AMAZING

This was an amazing family vacation! The views from the back deck were breathtaking! Beautiful home, clean, cozy fireplace and fun hot tub!!! Lots of family board games and even fooseball table! My entire family loves it! Very convenient location to Mt.Mitchell State Park as well as multiple public waterfalls and hiking trails! We had an amazing memory filled family vacation and will no doubt come back again! The owners were very hands on and always quick to respond and help with any questions. 5star vacation

Absolutely Beautiful

Wow! What a fantastic place to unwind! My family and I had an amazing time here! The inside of the cabin is amazing. So comfortable and plenty of room for everyone. The view from the upper deck cannot be beat. Down on the lower deck, stargazing in a clear night from the hot tub is a must. The only bad thing about our stay was that it had to come to an end. I can’t believe this place was available and isn’t fully booked all of the time.

Home away from Home...

This was our fourth visit to this absolutely STUNNING property. The only thing more impressive than the view and serenity is the thoughtfulness and hospitality offered by the owners. We are teachers and travel with our 3 teenagers as much as possible on breaks. We have been to many, many short term rental properties, but Rising Sun has proven to be our hands down fave. It is always immaculately clean. The owners have thought of EVERYTHING to make your stay perfect and are always readily available if needed. Our fave activities are the various creekside and waterfall hikes, family game and movie nights and of course staring at the long range mountain views from the hot tub. If you're looking to book an amazing stay for a family LOOK NO FURTHER!

Fabulous Hiking Trip

Seven women in my hiking group rented this home for three nights on a recent hiking trip. It was the perfect house for us--plenty of sleeping space, bathrooms, gathering space (indoors and out) for the group, a big kitchen for all the cooks, and at the end of the day and miles of trails, a big hot tub for a relaxing soak. The view is spectacular and the home is convenient to all that Mt. Mitchell and the BRP has to offer in the area. The owner Suzanne is wonderfully responsive and helpful. I just can't say enough good things about it.

Go for the view!

This was a great place to stay. More than what we needed but we went for the View. Extremely well equipped kitchen. Great place to hike. Space was very clean. Easy check in and check out. I’ve recommended this place several of my friends.
