  • Summary:

    Looking for a unique get away to the mountains? Kids & adults both will love to sleep in our completely renovated train caboose. To add to the fun, this caboose is located in the Smoky Mountains of NC on a 65 acre buffalo ranch!



    Bedroom 1 = queen size bed

    Cupola = full size bed

    Livingroom = pull out twin sleeper sofa



    The Space:

    We are a unique destination. Where else can you see bison from laying in bed???



    The kids and adults alike will fall in love with our completely renovated 1960's train caboose. All the amenities are in this cozy living space. The bathroom floor is even heated! There are 2 TV's & a full kitchen to cook your meals.



    We can guarantee a stay at Buffalo Creek Vacations is one your family will always treasure!



    Guest Access:

    Enjoy the bison feedings at the BC Viewing Deck - just a short walk from the caboose

    Hike to the BC Corral

    Feed goats & mini horses at the BC Barnyard

    Fish or cool off in the Pigeon River - right in front of the main entrance of the property



    The Neighborhood:

    On a 65 acre bison ranch. Can hike around & see:

    bison, llamas, alpacas, mini horses, goats.



    Also have a playground, tire swing & tetherball.



    Getting Around:

    We are just 4 miles off of Interstate I-40



    Other Things to Note:

    Check in is 4:00 pm

    Check out is 11:00 am



    We are pet friendly, the pet fee is $60 + tax = $67.20 for the 1st dog & $30 + tax = $33.60 for the 2nd dog & must be paid directly to Buffalo Creek Vacations after reservation is made.

    The BC Depot is located behind the Seaboard Cabooses. Here we have a store, game room & laundry room.



    Agapeland Station is located in the 2nd floor of the depot & has a 30x50 "O" gauge model train layout! Buy your tickets at the BC Depot Store!





    You can come down to the buffalo viewing area in the mornings usually between 9:30-10am to see them run in for their morning oats!

It was a great place....if you had kids they would love it...us adults loved it too...the caboose we stayed in was just like a house inside...lots to see and do there..very clean inside and hosts would do anything for you to make sure your stay was enjoyable

What a unique experience. Not only was the stay in a caboose all it was hyped up to be, the location was wonderful. Quick access to cute animals like goats, bunnies, pigeons and tiny horses not to mention the bison farm. Right next door is a wonderful little shop and game room

Such a fun and unique place to stay in the mountains! The owners were so accommodating and welcoming. We enjoyed watching the bison and other animals, playing air hockey, and exploring the ranch.

This caboose stay was perfect for my train lover. We traveled as a family and there was something for all of us to enjoy. We got to feed theini horses, talked to the other barn animals, watched llamas, hiked to the playground, and admired the cabooses they had. The owner communicated with us frequently and was very friendly. The game room and store were perfect additions for us to enjoy. It was so fun waking up to seeing the bison grazing and playing in the field from our beds. We had so much fun!

Caboose stay

We so loved our stay and the kids especially loved all the animals around to see and pet! The host was great and we were able to get buffalo steaks and eggs from there night there on the property for our meals! Will definitely come back!

Super cool

We stayed one night prior to dropping daughter off to a nearby summer camp. Loved the property and the caboose was perfect for the two of us! Haywood cafe down the street has the best coconut cream pie!

Amazing experience and looking forward to returning! My boy's loved riding the mini horse, playing at the playground, feeding the animals, and making smores at the firepit. Their service was amazing, everyone was friendly, helpful, and when I had questions and asked via email, they were quick to respond.

Everything was just as described. We loved being able to watch the bison feed in the morning. We also loved the little goats, bunnies and mini horses at the depot. We did not venture up to the llamas. We loved, loved, loved the train setup above the depot. You could tell a lot of thought and planning and work went into it. The only little knock we had was not being able to get stuff like charcoal or coffee in shop when we checked in. Which would have been remedied if we would have asked, but didn’t want to be a bother.

Great location quiet space

This a is a really unique and cozy place to stay. The location is super beautiful and extremely quiet. And who knew there would be alpacas, a mini horse, a mini donkey, goats, chickens, a turkey and the friendliest rabbits I've ever met? It was perfect for my husband and me and our teen son.

An Experience You Need

We stayed as an adventurous overnight and didn't even realize how fun it would be. The train itself was amazing, beautifully decorated and full theme. Property was so cool with so many animals. Overall great experience we didnt even realize we needed.

Amazing Bison Ranch

This was an incredible experience. The caboose was clean and everyone was very friendly. The animals were the best part of the experience. I recommend helping as much as possible with feeding the animals and really immersing yourself in the experience.

Great Family Adventure

We had an awesome Father and Son trip. Staying in the caboose was awesome. It was clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed. We enjoyed exploring the property and looking at all the animals. And the train museum was a blast. So much to see and to do. We hope yo go back again soon!
