“This historic hotel has been kept in wonderfully restored condition. Rooms are large, clean, and comfortable. Bathrooms are clean, although the plumbing is a little dated. The service is flawless. The location is ideal, two blocks from the pedestrian mall and shops. ”

“Fun place to stay. Very comfortable but don't expect the normal room layout. If creaking floors bother you, ask for a room on the highest floor. The building is old with original flooring. That said, the little restaurant is superb. The cook is great and as she is the wait staff so is the staffing. There are places to sit and read or look out the windows at the views. The campus is quite lovely. It's history will interest many. ”

“We have stayed at the inn before several years back, and decided to stay again. We love the historic look of the Balsam mountain Inn, we learned that it changed ownership a few years back and the new owners are looking to preserve the classic look that appeals to everyone so much. They want to keep it as original as possible which is great, the down side of that is they removed the window units from the rooms.
