Beautiful cottage. Very comfortable beds. Most everything necessary provided. Hosts and JonBie Maison went above and beyond to help with anything we needed. Even with the not so great weather it was still a great vacation.

Quiet Paradise

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The home was as advertised except the bikes were not present. We did not inquire about them, as it was not a big deal. The home was very spacious and so close to the beach. We enjoyed the warm water and found shells, both empty and inhabited by crabs! We had one snafu when our golf cart wouldn’t start early in the morning when we were to head over to the other side of the island to get on a fishing charter. Luckily, our neighbor gave us a ride. The owners responded quickly and walked us through resetting the cart later in the day and it worked fine for the rest of the trip. All of the folks on the island were very nice. While there were not a ton of restaurants, the island has its own rhythm such that a different restaurant had its own amazing fare to offer each day. Up in Smoke was amazing for BBQ one day and the distillery had great seafood another day. We also enjoyed several delicious meals at the Daufuskie Crab place. Melrose was a nice quiet area. The roads could use some up-keep but getting an asphalt truck and crew to the island would probably be pretty challenging. There were also several homes that had been sitting in disrepair for several years, but they added to the sort of haunted beauty of parts of the island. We loved our stay and by the end I wanted to buy one of those abandoned properties so we could fix it up and move to the island permanently!

Fun in Daufuskie!

We loved our time as a family of 4 on Daufuskie! Property was just as described. The owners were quick to respond with any questions I had about the Island or the house. Clean, quiet, fun and beautiful! The golf cart made getting around the island extra fun and easy. We will be back!

Great place and location

Our stay was great! Easy check in, golf cart was a necessity! Very clean and comfortable. We didn’t realize this house is actually a duplex. Probably wouldn’t have mattered but was a surprise. Close to beach and the Melrose Restaurant which was wonderful. Very responsive hosts when we had questions. Would definitely stay there again!

A little slice of paradise

If you are looking for a relaxing beach vacation, look no further! This place was absolutely beautiful and a great location with close beach access. We will be renting again! Try the peel and eat shrimp at Old Daufauskie Crab Co but beware the Scrap Iron Teas! They are sneaky!

Hidden Treasure

This was an amazing experience! The island is quiet, friendly and beautiful. While there, we were truly able to slow down, relax and enjoy the wildlife, beaches, shops and the hospitality of everyone there. For my husband and I, it was so much more convenient to rent a private ferry with Island Head on Hilton Head Island. They were so accommodating and there wasn't a luggage limitation and they were great with helping us with loading and unloading our luggage. (Plus, it was at the tail end of tropical storm Debbie) Dafuskie Island is an experience and we have only been gone one day and we already miss the quiet. The house was very roomy, clean and I loved the back screened in porch and watching the sunset over the marsh and the beach is like a 30 second golf cart ride! Tammy and Kurt were wonderful and I only hope to go back soon!

Adventure in Daufuski

The island is quiet and not crowded by usual beach tourist locations. The beaches are clean. It provides lots of historical places to explore and learn. Most restaurants are outdoor seating and light fare. We loved the casual relaxed atmosphere of the island. You must ferry over and travel by golf cart only on the island.

Piece of Paradise

Tjis is a great functional house that captured the peaceful essence of Daufuskie. This house is open and welcoming. Sitting on the back porch was amazing. So much wildlife to see. The beds were extremely comfortable which made for a great nights sleep. One day we hope to return and if this house is available we would absolutely love to stay here again. We highly recommend.

Ocean view cottage

We enjoyed our stay on the property. There was an issue with our original golf cart but it was resolved very quickly, which we greatly appreciated. There is a view of the ocean from the kitchen, but I would not call it oceanfront, which was fine as I had researched the property and knew the cottage was located on the second row of cottages. The only other issue was the dishwasher which we were unable to use, and by the time we realized that, it was time to leave, so we just did a lot of handwashing before checking out.

Heaven by the sea

This was our second time staying at this amazing location. Yes it is remote and difficult to get to but that is the point. Wonderful layout and tons of space with a short walk to the beach. The place insists you slow down and enjoy life. My only regret about this place is having to leave.

Stay at Melrose place

Our house was nice location was not. We were there for the races that weekend. We didn’t realize how far we would be from Haig Point and all of the race happenings. It was freezing and we had an open golf cart. The kitchen was missing several things I thought would be there like coffee filters and a big frying pan. The house itself was very nice and roomy. Our golf cart broke down the first day we were there but was quickly replaced by another one. They responded very quickly to our call. Overall excellent trip!

Great Place!

Family of six (10, 11, 19, 21) all had a blast. Stayed for six nights and certainly didn’t want to leave. This house had everything we needed and was very well appointed. Daufuskie is a hidden gem for sure. Hope to be back!

Relaxing Visit

Kurt met us at the house on our arrival and gave descriptions of the island dining options, tips for golf cart, grill, etc. No rush, and a pleasant introduction for our stay. The house was perfect, the kitchen well stocked, and the back screen porch was wonderful!

Amazing Place!

I stumbled upon a VRBO listing for this house by a complete accident and was not sure what to expect since we've never vacationed in South Carolina, let alone Daufuskie Island. And let me tell you, this place is a jem! The house is perfect to begin with, and the hosts made our stay absolutely worry-free! The check-in and check-out are super easy. We stay at VRBO-type places pretty much always, and this check-in/out was the easiest process we've experienced. We very much appreciated recommendations for the things to do, which were plenty. But we tried to take it easy and just enjoy our stay, and it was a success! Totally worth the travel (11 hrs by car, plus the ferry for us). Dog friendliness is worth a separate paragraph. We usually leave our pooch behind because it is so hard to find a place that is dog friendly. I am happy to attest that the house and the entire island are very welcoming to dogs and it looks like the pups really have a grand time spending quality time with their families and all the "potential families" as ours did :) Come to Daufuskie, stay at Tammy and Kurt's place, and tip well everywhere, it is absolutely worth it! -Tanya and Justin (plus 3 kids and 1 dog) from NJ
