Clean-Comfortable-Convenient

My priority in reading reviews is to initially find three things.# 1 Are the photos and description accurate. YES, at the time of my stay.# 2 Is it clean. YES, it is clean.# 3 Is the area safe. YES, every area I explored on the island.Afterwards I read what people share.The Condo is furnished. The balcony has a wonderful view, and I spent a great deal of time relaxing looking out there. The dock was a nice place to sit and look at Mobile Bay, the birds and other wildlife. It is a very short walk to the beach on the Gulf of Mexico.The outside of the building & hallways is well lit. Beyond the condo, the Island is DARK. Sitting or walking near the water, you will need bug spray. I would like to stay here again. I escaped Mid-West Winter. The Island is QUIET. No chain restaurants, hotels or amusement parks, not many people at all. It has an abundance of kind helpful people, & an infinite supply of natural beauty along the beaches. Dauphin Island is amazingly dog friendly for leashed well behaved dogs.I found 2 services that truly enhanced my time here. “Dauphin Island Hospitality” who delivered & put away my grocery order BEFORE I arrived. And what I believe to be the SHINING STAR of this Island “Dinner’s Ready” who sells prepared meals. They made some of the BEST Southern Cooking that I have ever had, second only to my mother’s.The written description pales by the reality of the place.I am looking forward to coming back to escape Mid-Western Winter.

Calm still waters with sweet bayside views

I have stayed in Dauphin Island many places in the last 10 years and especially like the calm views, easy access to the Gulf side, restaurants here. Price is right also.

Disappointing Last Day/Night

Bayou Heron had a deck collapse and we were forced to evacuate for our last night of stay and place at another property not at the caliber of Bayou Heron.

Peaceful and Serene

The location was excellent with many restaurants close by. The only thing I was disappointed with was the carpet (very stained) and no WiFi our entire visit. If these two things are rectified, I would have given 5 stars.

Great time!!

We had a great time! We fished from the dock, swam and walked to the beach. There's even a couple of gift shops in front of the condo. Had a great fishing/tour with the neighbors who own Fish Junkie, they took us out to the beach and we had a fantastic time.. we will be back!!

Dauphin Island stay

Enjoyed the stay at Dauphin Island. Pics of outside deck was not completely accurate as in listing and the unit had some cosmetic issues like peeling paint in the bathroom, stained carpet, and not as clean as hoped it would be. Kitchen stocked well and comfortable beds. .

Great Location, but minor issues that could use attention

The condo is in a great location. The beach is literally across the street. If you prefer calm water drive to the West end beach which is at the end of the road. The drive is short but scenic. The neighbors are friendly and polite. The check in process was fast and issue free. The only thing I had an issue with is the cleanliness of the condo. The carpets had spots all over as if someone poured liquid in spots forming a trail from living room to master bedroom. There was visible dust in the living room and washroom. This made the condo seem and feel dirty. Not sure what the turn around is for the condo but these are things that cleaners should pay attention to as well as the usual general wipe down and replacing of supplies. The condo was well stocked. Anything we could have needed was there from extra blankets to a fan. I do suggest grabbing all supplies prior to coming on the island. There is a 20 minute drive to Mobile to go to a Wal-Mart or grocery store. Some of the folks in Mobile are not friendly. They are downright rude actually. Also skip any restaurant with "Pirate" in the name. The wait is RIDICULOUSLY LONG.

Great value

We had a wonderful time staying here. With my parents, husband, and 10 month old, we had everything we needed. We set up a play area in the living room and actually put the baby’s pack n play in the master bath since it was big enough. Great jacuzzi tub and all toiletries needed. The kitchen was a great size and had all the stuff we needed as well. Location is good since it is in the middle of the island. 5 minutes from west beach and 5 minutes from the east side. Three restaurants within walking distance. The public beach across the street was awesome too but be aware it’s quite a hike.

Island getaway

What a great condo on the sound! The elevator definitely came in handy with our older dog. The kitchen is very well stocked & the whole condo was extra clean! There aren’t an abundance of restaurants on DI, so we would recommend bringing groceries in for your stay. We took our dog swimming at the beach by Pirate’s Bar & Grill. The beach across the main street from the condo is about a 1/2 mile walk from the street to the shoreline.

Perfect location

This is a wonderful condo in the perfect location. Beautiful views. The furniture and decor were quite cute however……the carpet is very, very stained. We are very grateful that we’re able to bring our 70 + dog but would keep shoes on. Nice quite neighbors. Across from Incredible beach that allows leashed dogs (very rare). Very laid back beach vacation spot. Island very dog friendly. The rental had a very sweet coffee bar providing a Keurig and a drip maker. It would have been nice (as in other rentals) to have at the very least a mornings worth of coffee and salt and pepper. This island lacks a decent grocery store (there is a piggly wiggly on other side of the bridge ). The grocery options are small limited and expensive. I would definitely rent here again. Replace the carpet and very flat pillows and this would be a 5+ Dauphin island is a very beautiful place to recharge.

Great Condo not so great neighbor

The condo was just as described. The Police officer that owned the condo upstairs was redoing his floor over New Years Weekend. The 7 am and 6 am start times left little to be desired with the hammering and pounding. This went on all 4 days we were there. Luckily we spent most of our time at the beach. We did have to spend an hour on the neighboring dock until it got dark and too cold the remodel noise was so bad.. I did mention to the owner that it was pretty loud when they were working, however it didn't do any good. His handyman helper even threatened me to a whoopin in front of one of the other neighbors. Te condo was fantastic the experience not so much, hopefully for otheres the remodel is done.

Great Location for a Getaway
