These concrete steps are all that remain of the Dayton Quarantine Hospital. It opened in 1887 to house patients suffering from smallpox. Later, the hospital treated patients with social diseases and alcoholism. The hospital finally closed in 1949. Also known as the Pestilence Hospital or the Pest House, the hospital was demolished in 1955.
The city of Dayton played an important role in the history of the bicycle. The Wright Brothers owned a bicycle shop before delving into aviation. Huffy brand bicycles started in Dayton. Carillon Historical Park has a building dedicated to bicycles including a couple penny farthings, a bone shaker, a Huffy radio bike and this triple tandem gem.

The view of the Dayton skyline from Lookout Tower - the highest point in the city - during the Great Dayton Flood of 1913, it became a place of refuge. Woodland Cemetery and Arboretum in Dayton, Ohio, is one of the oldest "garden" cemeteries in the United States. Incorporated in 1842, the cemetery began with 40 acres southeast of Dayton and has been enlarged to its present size of 200 acres.
