I have used Vrbo many times, but this was by far my worst and most unsettling experience. The biggest issue was a major safety breach: Upon arrival, I was given access to a room that was already occupied by another guest. I had my young daughter with me, and walking into a stranger's room was terrifying. While the woman inside was kind, this situation could have ended very badly. The host’s response to this security failure was dismissive and inadequate.Beyond the safety risks, the unit was poorly maintained:• No Heat: The AC/heating unit was not working properly, leaving us freezing all night. The host’s suggestion was to use a small portable heater, which is unacceptable for a paid rental.• Maintenance Issues: The refrigerator was turned off when we arrived, spoiling food we needed to keep cold.• Cleanliness/Air Quality: The air filters were filthy and looked like they hadn't been changed in months. When I pointed this out, the host was defensive and argumentative rather than helpful.• Poor Communication: When we first encountered the occupied room, the contact number provided was disconnected, leaving us stranded and unable to reach anyone immediately. The host, Andrey, was dismissive of our concerns and tried to "gaslight" us regarding the timestamp of our complaints and the condition of the unit. Save yourself the stress and the safety risk—stay somewhere else.
