“Grand Hotel needing a Grand Redecorate! The condition of the hotel was extremely poor, which is a shame when you think it would have been top end when the hotel first opened. Very obvious that any work that had been carried out was done on the cheap and to an extremely poor standard. The light inside the room did not work, only the bathroom light. It was pitch black and luckily I did not trip over anything when going to bed. Got told there was nothing they could do until the maintenance man came...

“Great location, short walk to town, on street parking at front, very friendly helpful staff. Room wasn’t quite ready but we enjoyed a drink on the terrace out front while we waited. Bed very comfortable, great nights sleep, even had a fan to cool the room down which was most welcome.”

“Comfortable bed, great location for bars and restaurants”

“The facilities are being added to : restaurants etc. our room, themed room: Cape Town was decorated to good standard. The best breakfast, parking and access was very good. Staff were cheerful and very helpful. It was great experience and would go again Thanks to all the staff.”

“We had no running hot water other than the electric shower. No wardrobe just hangers on hooks. TV was the size of an iPad. Bottom bed sheet too small and forever coming off. Needs to be clearer when it states breakfast included but it is only cereal. Outside seating area not suitable as soiled with seagulls droppings”

“staff dissapear from behind the bar (the place they use as reception, serve drinks and take food orders) for an age. After waiting five minutes without seeing a soul, I pushed open the door into the kitchen to request some assistance, if available. A waitress finally appeared and rudely shouted at me to get out of the kitchen. I tried to explain that no one had been present at the bar/reception for along time hence the need and she ignored me completely shouting again to get out of the kitchen....

“Nice place to stay, very friendly owner, excellent breakfast. Lovely location and view from the conservatory. The only problem was the room shower, tricky to control and weak flow. We informed the owner and he is going to look into getting it fixed.”
