The hotel is idiosyncratic due to its age, but the staff are excellent, the breakfasts great and the bathrooms small. Being an old building the floorboards tend to creak and some of the doors need a bit of a shove to open, or close. They have lots of odd signs as you can see from the attached photos. At the time of writing the cost of a taxi from Aberdeen airport is £110-£120 each way. The rooms are comfortable. I had thought I had booked a double bed, but I was only offered a room with a single bed. The idea that a single guest might want a double bed obviously was a new concept to the hotel. There was also some issue between the hotel and this website over payment but as I had pre-paid, it wasn't my problem. It's OK for a night, or two and the hotel is right in the middle of the town. Reception is on the first floor, but the whole of Forfar is in a bit of a time warp and appears to be stuck in the 1970's.
