  • Riverview Place is an original mill house built in 1902...Most all of the houses in Fries were built at the same time...The history of this town is shared with visitors by locals with great pride in their stories about their lives while growing up in a town owned by and run by "The Mill"..Music was and is a huge part of who they are..
    Once the railroad stopped coming the state of Virginia made a rails to trails park called The New River Trail State Park which begins in Fries and goes for a little over 50 miles to Pulaski. Along with bike riding there is great fishing, canoeing, tubing and hiking and you can join in with some ole time porch sitting.
    Fries is located 6 miles from Galax where there is a Super Walmart, other groceries, shopping, and restaurants.

Lovely home on the river in our old home town. Clean, beautifully redone home with everything you need just waiting for you. The view is spectacular.

Cozy home away from home

We greatly enjoyed our time in the riverfront home! We had an excellent view of the river and dam and the home came equipped with just avout everything we could have needed. We look forward to another stay in the future!

Memorial Day weekend

Great View!

Very clean and comfortable home. Rented for our in laws to stay and they loved it and the town. They even saw a Bald Eagle flying in the park. Owners were wonderful.

Can’t say enough about this property, inside and out. So much attention to detail. The house was so comfortable and charming. The river view being right across the street was great. Just can’t say enough about this place. Would definitely stay again

Another Great Stay

As was the case last year at their other VRBO home in Fries, VA the house was very clean, accommodations were exactly as described, and the owners are always responsive to emails and questions. I recommend this to anyone looking for a beautiful view of the river.

Perfect place to unwind!

We enjoyed our stay and every exceeded our expectations. We went canoeing on the river and I rode 70 miles on the NRT. Those activities were great, but sitting on the front porch talking and watching the river was the highlight of our trip.

Fun in Fries

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this cottage. A lovely wrap around deck with views of the river and lots of seating. The kitchen was well stocked. It had everything we needed. It was great to be able to store our bikes in the shed when we weren’t riding the trail.

Super Lovely porch view!

Well kept, user friendly location in a sweet town. Lots potential for tip top outside activities like biking, water play, and fun things on grass (chuck a ball, frisbee, tag, etc). Kitchen was highly functional and nicely equipped for making real meals.

Well furnished, clean, wonderful view, and loved listening to the river and watching the wildlife every evening. Friendly and accomodating host. Nothing to do with this rental- but do not eat at the local cafe, drive the 15 minutes to Galax

Perfect Stay in Every Way

This Beautifully appointed home overlooking the river had every amenity. It had very comfortable beds, was impeccably clean, and had a wonderful porch view at the start of the New River Bike trail.. It was difficult to leave.

comfortable and scenic location

It was convenient to family in Galax Va. Also it was nicely furnished. The kitchen was equipped with all we needed to cook our meals. We like to cook our own meals when we can. Also it was scenic with the New River view from the porch. We plan to use this house again when we visit family. Thanks for the great stay!
