The owner clearly spends time and effort on the grounds however, we were disappointed by the lack of privacy in our room, it being directly adjacent to the breakfast room with all the accompanying intrusive noise.We were warned the previous evening by the proprietor that this was likely altho we did not realise it would be quite so loud. “It was ok, but compared to a lot of other options in napier for the price I’d say just average. Mostly had a view of the restaurant across the road and no bath, no cooking facilities. Wasn’t bad but in comparison to other local hotels just a little pricey ”

“Interesting historic place. Pleasant place to relax and a great base for exploring the Hawke's Bay. Spent 3 nights there, service is good and the staff very helpful. Stayed in the "William Nelson Suite" and we could relax on the verandah or in the grounds with its historic trees.”
