It seemed like the place was slipping. No pool or hot tub working while we were there. The continental breakfast went from 3-4 options on the first day to only cold cereal without milk on the last day. There wasn't even coffee the day we left! I told the lady at the front desk. She nodded and went back to her phone. Our room door was extremely difficult to open. We did have a refrigerator and microwave so we bought food for breakfast and lunch.

Hotel was a good value for the money. A bit dated and the mattresses could have been a bit more comfortable. Tried to check in an hour early - gentleman at the front desk didn’t even check if a room was clean and available, just said no. Would recommend if staying in Hot Springs.

Nice accommodations but not great. WiFi, while free, was so poor, it was almost non-existent. Odd little conference room in our suite truly baffled us. Finally, breakfast was to be open until 9:00 am. At 8:45 it was as good as closed. Fix the details and this could be quite nice.

Property is dated. Suppose to have a restaurant and lounge area? Did not open until later than most guests stayed in the mornings (mostly construction type workers) and open at strange times and days. Motel breakfast consisted of 4 bagels and 4 pieces of bread, kiddy yogurt, egg pucks, frozen briskets and old sausage gravy. One of the worst I have ever experienced. The room had an oder of cowboy, horse and manure. Heat/Cool unit vents and fins were so filthy and moldy, the black out curtains fell off the rod, no one at the front desk to tell. Waited 15 minutes and rang the bell 5 times with no response. Pool and Hot tub out of order. The town has no place to eat breakfasts and nightly meals are non existent except for a couple of bars.

Bed sheets were torn and dirty, pillows were dirty. We had to wait 10 minutes for the guy to wake up to check us in as we got in late.

We were checked into a dirty, uncleaned room for the first room. The second room had boxelder bugs on top of bed and trash on both the hotel floor and bathroom floor. This hotel has gone down hill quickly! Everything felt extremely dirty including the initial smell in the lobby. Would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

I have no idea how expidia still has them on the website, the restroom was sort of maintained, the towels were clean but all towels were torn, the bed sheets were torn as well, the room itself was just dirty. If it wasnt snowing definitely would of left. Do not stay here !!!

What I liked was it was quiet. (May be because it is not tourist season.) The heat worked great. There were no bedbugs. What I didn’t like was the smell. Like there is poor ventilation and the smell of stink feet and body order ruminating in the entire place. The cheap, thin mattresses were rock hard. The pillows were small and thin. The fan didn’t work in the bathroom. The vent was full of old lint. The beds were poorly made. There were crumbs along the edges of the carpet everywhere. I would rate this place better if a little more effort went into ventilation and keeping the place cleaner. I would even look past the crumbs on the floor and the lack of sleep from the hard beds if it didn’t smell.

When we checked in we were immediately hit with the smell of burnt methamphetamines in the lobby. The front desk clerk was clearly under the influence. When we got into our room all of the electronics in the room were unplugged and furniture had to be moved to plug them back in. After correcting that we found that all of the lightbulbs in the room were missing. We went to the front desk to get new light bulbs but were unable to get a hold of anyone so our stay had to be accommodated with our own flashlights Simply unacceptable.

Only 1 towel in room.the window curtains i think have mold or something strange on them. Toilet seat was broken. No creamer/sweetner for coffee. Hot tub out of service vending machines all empty. Staff was good and courteous. Bring ypur own.pillow these pillows are terrible.

The hotel does not look like the photo. Breakfast was very limited and restaurant not in full service.

Best in town
This property is currently under renovation, or the score would be higher. I had a very comfortable and quiet stay. The bed and coverings were very nice and the pillows were great. Breakfast was good with a nice variety. Also a restaurant connected that had the best bacon. A beautiful courtyard complete with gazebos, fire pits and bbq grills. I would definately stay again. Excellent value.

Nice and Cozy
It was nice, warm and comfy but I really wanted to use the pool and it was closed for the season. It’s indoor and should be available all the time especially since it’s on the outside sign that there is a pool.

Also, the pool may be indoors but we do not heat that building which is why we close the building during winter months. May you be blessed always. Please stay with us again.

Room was clean. However, there was only 1 plastic cup in the room to drink out of. A coffee pot, but no cups to make coffee in! Disappointing that the spa and pool were both closed.

The pool was closed. The spa was closed. It smelled like sewer and Lysol. There was a note on couch bed that said we’d be charged $100 if we used it. The waffles mix was sour.

Front desk person did not know his job, tv did not work so we requested another room and were allowed to move. Cafe attached to the hotel served us very old hoagie bread with our sandwich. Breakfast was cold, the bananas were black and the hot water for tea was not hot even after he refilled it.

Still the best in town
I truly like this property. the staff is always friendly and accommodating. the property is kept clean and the rooms are clean and comfortable. Unfortunately things are getting a bit run down - wallpaper in the bathroom was peeling, the furniture looking pretty worn and the linens are showing extreme wear. While i was there, they were replacing all of the flooring so i take that as a sign that the owners are working on updating.

This was our first time visiting Hot Springs, South Dakota. The hotel staff was friendly and accommodating. The facilities are a little dated, but the hotel is very clean. The breakfast was hot and delicious. We hope to visit the area again.

The hotel is undergoing remodeling - so it was a bit dusty, piles of old carpet outside, etc...that said the price was pretty fair, the room was nice enough and clean. Our room probably had new carpet and paint, however the mattress needed replacement and the bathroom lacked some basic supplies. All in all, we hope that the refurbishing adds value - we poke with the general manager who said that the hotel should be better sooner than later.

Excellent staff! A little disappointed that the microwave in the room did not work and there were no cups for the coffee maker. And only one coffee pod for my two day stay. Breakfast was very good with an excellent fellow attending and making sure all needs were met.
