The house was stocked well enough and the beds were comfortable. Host communication was decent. The peninsula was private and quiet. The area driving up to the house is bad. Not just lower income homes, which would be fine, but abandoned and decapitated homes with tents out from and a ton of trash. This isn't the hosts fault, just something to be aware of. The gate into the property never closes so that was a security concern for us. Half the windows in the home didn't close or lock properly so I spent about an hour trying to fix them all. We had a wonderful stay at the Big House! We stayed for 6 nights and brought our dog. The house is spacious and the beds were comfy. Loved the big kitchen and master bathroom and the huge closet. My husband worked comfortably at the desk a couple hours a day while I was able to enjoy the rest of the house and not bother him.The deck was enjoyable and I read outside with a mimosa and a great view. It was nice that the dog could be out with me and I didn’t have to worry about her getting out. The views out the windows were stunning. The house is situated perfectly to take advantage of the best views and I spent a lot of time just looking out the windows and enjoying the wild life. We used the kayaks and floated right off the property every day. It was very easy to get in the water. The property is located very close to state parks and other points of interest. We enjoyed them as well. The hostess was very helpful. We highly recommend!

Quiet Stay in Large House

Reserving & checking in was an easy process. Though the 4 PM checkin time is late & emphasized in each communication. The later check in was part of the reason I did a 4 star rating. The other reasons was because the property could be better kept up. Several of the landlord special projects are starting to fail. There are many tiles loose & grout missing as well as electrical issues throughout the house. The shower curtain wouldn’t stay up & ended up falling on me. One of the bathrooms is just a bath, which isn’t ideal for 3 adult couples & the master bathroom doesn’t have a door. The property allows dogs, which is great but it does smell like dogs & could be cleaner. Driving to the house, the neighborhood is a little rough but we hardly saw anyone & had a quiet stay. It is a beautiful property. It has multiple houses to rent out, which would be great for large gatherings. Just keep in mind that may mean you’re sharing the property. There are a lot of cameras on the outside of the property, while I appreciate the security, but it did always feel like we were being watched. We really loved that each of the rooms had a king bed for each of the couples so everyone felt like they got a good room. The guys loved the air hockey & pool tables. The huge decks were great & cushions were in good condition to sit on. The kitchen was well stocked with appliances & even some seasonings if you needed them. Overall everyone was pleased with our stay & would come back.

Peaceful Perfection!!

PERFECTION!!! Wanted to take my parents away for a quiet and relaxing quick break at the lake. The Big House at Cape Catherine was beyond what we even hoped for. The house is beautiful and inviting, it felt like home as soon we arrived. It was clean, stocked with necessities, and adorably decorated. My parents loved sitting on the balcony decks listening to the water and watching the ducks. The peninsula was private, quiet, and peaceful. Although we didn’t venture out into the water, there were plenty of water equipment (kayaks, canoes, etc.) available. Our host, Laura, was wonderful to deal with. She responded quickly to all of my questions and was incredibly helpful. Highly recommend both the Big House and Laura as a host. We hope to return to the Big House on Cape Catherine for a longer stay in the future!!
