Wrapped in western red cedar and set before 180-degree mountain views, Timber House reimagines the historic Joshua Tree cabin with custom white oak and walls of glass. Spend the afternoon on the tanning ledge of the 30-foot pool, sink into the ten-person hot tub, then cook at the outdoor kitchen while the long table for ten fills up. When the mountains go dark, the courtyard fire pit draws everyone in. Four bedrooms, every one framing the desert and keeping its privacy.



The Space:

Timber House is a modern interpretation of the historic desert cabin, wrapped in western red cedar with custom white oak millwork and walls of glass. Speckled stone counters, flagstone underfoot and desert gardens of agave and grasses carry the materials from inside to out. Every room frames the desert while keeping its privacy, and the open living spaces lead straight out to the pool, hot tub and outdoor kitchen. A king primary and three queen bedrooms, each with its own thermostat, share two and a half bathrooms and sleep up to ten, which suits families and groups who like to cook, swim and stay up late together.

-Outdoor Amenities-

The backyard opens to panoramic mountain views. Stretch out on the 30-foot pool's tanning ledge with the water around your ankles, or claim one of the teak daybeds along the flagstone deck and tilt an umbrella toward the sun. After a day of hiking, the oversized 10-person hot tub is where everyone ends up.



When it's time to eat, the outdoor kitchen has a propane BBQ, a large prep island with stools and a refrigerator, and the covered table for 10 is right beside it. Then follow the wood boardwalk into the private courtyard, where deep teak lounge chairs circle the built-in propane fire pit between the cedar walls. With minimal light pollution, the sunsets are long and the stargazing is the main event.



-Living Area-

Corner windows wrap the living room, so the mountains turn gold while you sit on the deep sectional with a drink in hand. Cedar and white oak finishes keep the room warm, and it flows into the kitchen and dining areas, so the whole group stays together. Put on a playlist through the built-in Sonos speakers, controlled from the wall-mounted iPads or your own device, and let it carry out to the pool. -Kitchen and Dining-

The fully equipped chef's kitchen pairs white oak cabinetry with speckled stone counters and backsplash, premium appliances and a large island with stools, so breakfast can be a group project. Next door, a long wood dining table with black chairs seats everyone, with glass doors open to the courtyard. On warm nights, carry the platters outside to the covered table and the outdoor kitchen.



-Bedrooms and Bathrooms-

Timber House sleeps up to 10 guests. The primary suite has a king bed against a white oak headboard wall, with abstract art above it and corner windows framing the valley, so the view is the first thing you see. Three more bedrooms each have a queen bed, with clean lines, black side tables and windows to the desert. For groups of nine or ten, a queen air mattress with bedding is provided. Every bedroom has its own thermostat. The two and a half bathrooms have modern finishes, carved stone sinks and spacious showers.



-Surrounding Area-

Joshua Tree National Park and the Joshua Tree Saloon in downtown Joshua Tree, with its restaurants, coffee shops, galleries and boutiques, are the easy outings from Timber House. Pioneertown, Pappy & Harriet's and the Red Dog Saloon make a good night out.



Guest Access:

The entire house and property are yours to enjoy! Please note that a few supply closets stay locked to store rental supplies.

The Neighborhood:

Timber House is in Joshua Tree, minutes from the shops, restaurants and galleries of downtown and the national park entrance. The neighborhood is quiet, with mountain views.

A personal vehicle is necessary to get around in this area - rideshare apps are not guaranteed.



Other Things to Note:

-Additional Guests-

The home sleeps eight guests in beds. Reservations with more than eight guests will incur an additional fee of $35 per person, per night for the ninth and tenth guests. This fee goes directly toward additional cleaning and laundry.



-Pool Heating Fee-

Should you wish to have the pool heated to 85 degrees, please notify us in advance of your arrival, as there will be a supplemental charge per day for this service due to high fuel costs in this area. If you'd like the pool heated for multiple days, we ask that days be consecutive to conserve energy, thank you! Pool heating is not usually necessary May through September. Please note that we will need at least 24 hours' notice to heat the pool.

During the winter months, please be aware that colder outdoor temperatures may cause the pool to feel cooler than its maintained temperature of 85°F. We kindly ask that you ensure this temperature meets your comfort level before submitting a request, as refunds cannot be issued on this basis.

-Hot Tub Heating-

No fee to heat the hot tub! Please note that because the hot tub is an in-ground hot tub, it is not heated constantly in order to conserve energy. It will take around 30 minutes to heat to 104 degrees from ambient temperature.



-Pool and Hot Tub Service-

The pool and hot tub are serviced twice weekly, approximately between 9am and 4pm. Please note that service times may vary slightly depending on our technician's route.



-Pet Policy-

We welcome your dogs! There is a $100 per dog per stay fee, limit of 2 dogs maximum. Please note on your reservation how many dogs you are bringing. There is an unauthorized pet fee of $500. Please use the provided dog sheets before allowing your dogs on any furniture. Cats and other pets are not allowed.

-Wildlife & Safety-

The desert landscape is teeming with wildlife and natural beauty, offering a unique connection to nature, but it's important to be mindful of the creatures and plants that call this area home. Guests may encounter a variety of wildlife during their stay, and while direct encounters with dangerous animals like coyotes, snakes, scorpions, bobcats, mountain lions and other desert dwellers are rare, it is important to be aware of your surroundings and to keep a safe distance from these creatures when spotted. Additionally, the desert is dotted with sharp cacti and other spiky plants. For your safety, always supervise children, pets, ESAs, and service animals while outdoors. Dogs should remain on a leash at all times and be watched closely while outdoors, as they can wander into potentially unsafe situations with wildlife or plants. By booking this property, guests acknowledge the potential for wildlife encounters and assume responsibility for their safety and the safety of their group. By respecting the local environment and staying aware, you can fully enjoy the magic of the desert.

For your security, there are exterior cameras around the property, which monitor vehicle access and occupancy. There are no cameras inside the home or facing any private outdoor areas, including the pool and hot tub. Noise decibel monitors are also on the property.
