I am almost hesitant to leave a review for this neglected property owned by Bear BnB whose owner is Tyler Shirk since his policy is to attack those who leave negative reviews as well as saying their expectations are too high. We are an active-duty military family who was celebrating our retirement after 20 years of service. We chose this property in order to visit family and left 2 hours after arrival due to the neglected and unsafe/unsanitary nature. The front of the house presented broken concrete steps and a porch/siding covered with dirt and cobwebs. The back yard is a overgrown weed lot with trash and scrap wood left about as well as a dilapidated fence which is falling apart. Additionally, the door handle for the lower level is broken off. Inside we were treated to open food in the cabinets, half used condiments, spilled food stored in the hallway bathroom closet, broken items left in the laundry room (to include an old baby pack n play), someone's body wash, and a soiled pillow with a hole in it left in the hall closet. Mr. Shirks response is that he would send a cleaning person over, as though this shouldn't have been corrected before our arrival. We decided to leave the premise (as authorized by Vrbo policy and the Bear BnB refund policy in their printed home guide at the property) and requested a refund from both Bear BnB and VRBO. VRBO has refunded us, Bear BNB has not and now will not respond to VRBO customer service or myself.
