We stayed here with my wife, 2 year old, mom, brother, and sister in law for our other brother's wedding in La Jolla. The house is beautiful and in a great spot. We rarely used our car since La Jolla has a lot to offer and this place is right there. If you are considering this place, pull the trigger and stay here!
But there are a few things were a bit of a miss for us:
- The kitchen has 1 seat for eating. The formal dining room is the next room over so no big deal, but our family likes to eat more casually, especially with a toddler. There is a breakfast nook but no table, there is one counter stool with space for 2, and the other chairs are not conducive for eating on. An additional counter stool and a table in the nook would be easy additions to make this space more usable
- Since we walked everywhere, we needed to use keys to get in and out of the gate. Since there were many of us, we had to leave the set of keys in the lockbox which is tedious to open each time you want to go through the gate. Other than the keys in the lockbox and 2 gate remote openers, there was one key ring with the gate key + casita key, and another with 4 keys that didn't seem to include the gate (maybe I just failed here). I would have appreciated something like: 3 sets with gate + house, 2 sets with gate + casita, and 1 set with gate + house + casita
