Wonderful view, worth 5 stars…but the stars end there. Access was an ongoing problem. The host emailed entry instructions & photos but in fading light we could not match them to what we saw on site. The Leasing office said VRBO rentals were prohibited so would not help us. The host had mounted a small private lockbox near the fence leading to the garage--our first sign that the rental might be a bit funky. The garage door fob did not work--we had to wait for someone inside to let us in. Entry on foot required a different fob. We had 3 of each type fob, but none worked consistently. Throughout our 3-day stay we entered by car and on foot through the garage, relying on others to click us in.A smoke alarm went off very early our first a.m. We could not locate the failing unit. Our host did not respond to our URGENT message or to attempts by “VRBO Cares” to reach him. Finally we found an old-style detector with removable battery in a hall drawer to stop the chirping. This cost us sleep and wasted valuable vacation time.Lesser issues: The bedroom with 2 queens is so small that the beds are pushed up against the patio door on one side, the closet door on the other, closing off access to the closet. The vertical blinds were missing slats in all 3 bedrooms—2, 4 and 7 slats respectively, so one cannot fully darken the room or have privacy from the active walking path below. There were no dish towels or pot holders in the kitchen. Kleenex was not provided in either bathroom.
