Metroparque Possum Creek: Tours y Actividades

Before becoming Possum Creek MetroPark, this land was an outdoor recreation area called Argonne Forest, operating from the 1920's to the 1940's. Here are the remains of a streetcar. Null Hodapp, the owner of Argonne Forest Park bought four streetcars from the city of Dayton. He converted one into a concession stand near the pool. Others were used as primitive camping cabins that were rented for $12.00 a month.

Here are the remains of the swimming pool steps and diving platform. The pool was constructed by building retaining walls and a spillway to collect the waters of Possum Creek.
Possum Creek has dirt roads, grass trails, and all sorts of great places for walking, running, biking, etc.
What is likely the fruiting body of a lichen growing on the sparkling iridescent surface of a glacial erratic.
The porcelain blue 'berries' of the Eastern Red Cedar (Juniperus virginiana). Cedars are conifers and despite their appearance to the contrary of the typical 'pine cone', these fruits are actually modified cones.
