Going to miss Waccamaw Exchange

Reviewer Comments: We have loved this house for years and I know this last time will probably be our last since the house is for sale.We have made such wonderful memories and we are going to miss this house terribly. :(

We vaca in the fall time to pick oysters, fish and enjoy time at the beach. Great time each year. Really wish there was a big table in first floor area. Also, since we fish, wish there was a sink on the dock to clean the catch and wash off. Enjoyed

Super quick walk to the beach or pier. Cons: New mattresses would be ideal, plus extra blankets in the living area. The a/c downstairs was inadequate. Should be a separate thermostat down there.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Clean older home that is a very easy walk to the beach. Boat ramp is convenient, but the dock is only in inches of water at low tide. Nice large screened in porch. Not hardly enough water pressure to use both showers at the same time. The barn doors for the jack and Jill bathroom got a big thumbs down from all of us. A regular door would be nice. Beds were comfortable and closets are decent size All in all it was a nice stay.

Great location, questionable value/design choices

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The location is great, and having a ramp to launch kayaks during high tide or from the dock at medium tide was nice. There’s restaurants in walking distance and the beach is a quick walk with the beach cart. There’s restaurants house was clean and had plenty of space and a functional kitchen. The covered screened in porch was the highlight of the property with a nice marsh view and a ceiling fan. The barn doors on the Jack and Jill bathrooms were a major con. Fumbling around at night with loud, loosely fitting doors was not fun. There’s room for normal doors so I’m baffled by the choice to barn doors... on a pantry or closet? Sure. But bathrooms?! No! The other issue with the downstairs area was the HVAC. It stayed much warmer than the upstairs so it was not as comfortable. The lack of internal stairs wasn’t much of an issue for our party and is the norm for some of the older properties in the area.Overall I would not go back mainly due to the bathroom doors. For the price I expect a nicer experience and there are better options. If the doors were replaced and the price was a better value compared to more up to date properties I would definitely consider it. Not bad, not great, but until it gets some updates Garden City has better options.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Great location, fun dock, lots of room. House has a disinfectant smell, but that was to be expected from a dog friendly house. Back porch had not been mopped and was dirty, privacy barrier prevented free flow of air so back porch was very warm at all times. We called maintenance twice to clean out the frig that had a very pronounced shrimp smell , as in someone left shrimp in the frig for a long time. We had to wrap our ice and all non sealable items in plastic bags to prevent fish smell on the food. Since we were on vacation, I just didn’t want the hassle of moving us to another location since they had no spare refrigerators available. For the premium we paid, we should have received a clean smelling refrigerator. We cannot recommend this vacation rental.

Nights on the back porch were so peaceful and relaxing. The new table and chairs were wonderful for sitting and relaxing in the afternoon. We can’t wait to go back.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Let me start by saying that I absolutely love this house. The location is perfect. The furnishings are beautiful. However I wish Garden City Realty would hire competent cleaning people. There was uncooked macaroni noodles and spaghetti noodles all over the back porch. It’s very uncomfortable to step on and there was what appeared to be flour on the rug. There was urine in the upstairs bathroom commode. No I didn’t call to complain because they would’ve sent someone back to do what should’ve been done in the first place. When you’re unpacking and trying to settle in for your vacation you don’t need someone under foot. Perhaps Diana who inspected the property needs a little training on what is clean and what’s not.

Our two complaints this year are the house had an odor all week, and this is the 3rd year that we have stayed there that the weeds in the grass was up to our knees. We are outside a lot with a small dog so that was not ideal. Otherwise it is a great place to stay.

Reviewer Comments: We enjoyed our stay at Waccamaw Exchange, great location, dog friendly with a dock and boat ramp, close to Sam's Corner and the pier which is the heart of Garden City Beach. Only cons is the A/C only has a thermostat upstairs which makes the downstairs uncomfortable at times. Also the house can acquire a smell from the inlet/marsh at times. Would recommend to others and would stay again.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Our stay at Waccamaw Exchange was wonderful! We wish we could have stayed longer!! Perfect location...beach access 2 short blocks w/o high rises and marsh view right from the backyard. Perfect place to watch sunsets from the private dock or screened in porch. We encountered many super friendly people in and around the neighborhood. The house is tastefully decorated and stocked with anything you’d need in the kitchen. All furnishings were as advertised and very comfortable. We absolutely loved the screened porch...in fact we spent the majority of our time there when at the house. Our only issues were that the porch had not been cleaned of pollen upon our arrival. I spent 2 hours cleaning it. I know pollen has been a huge problem this year, but this had clearly not been done for days. The inside of the house was clean. Also, a charcoal grill was not available as posted. We bought one and left it there. No big deal. We would love to rent this house for the entire winter if available at an affordable rate. It is perfect! The owners have done a great job. 👍👍👍👍👍

Reviewer Comments: The house was very clean, the furniture was comfortable and clean, the covered porch facing the inlet was lovely to sit and enjoy the view during the day and in the evening and the dock was delightful to sit on. The ground level had macramé swings, which we found comfortable when swinging and no worry about obstacles. We our dog had plenty of space to run and the home's interior had ample room to set up the dog crate. We enjoyed our stay very much because of the location to family activities and quiet! Oh yes, it was a quick 5 minute walk to the beach!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: LOVE this little beach cottage! Beautifully decorated & the home's layout was perfect for our family. Grown kids downstairs & adults upstairs. We really enjoyed the huge screened porch, especially our schnauzers. Outdoor hangout space downstairs as well complete with 2 swings & strand lighting. The only things I wish it had were additional mirrors in all of the bedrooms (a full length mirror on back of ea. bedroom door would be perfect) and a regular toaster. Location was great! Beach access & pier were walking distance & you couldn't ask for a better view to watch the magnificent sunset over the inlet. We have already booked Waccamaw Exchange for next year!

Nice Place on Inlet

The main issue is that the 2 floors are separated by outdoor entrances so it’s harder for family members can visit.

Reviewer Comments: Waccamaw Exchange is a very lovely home, far enough from the pier and arcade to avoid the noise in the summer, but close enough to walk down there and enjoy beautiful downtown Garden City. Take a short walk to the beach or enjoy the creek from the screened back porch or dock. Very tastefully decorated with all the necessities and ample seating. I have been vacationing at Garden City my entire life and Waccamaw Exchange is at the top of the list.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Overall a great experience with this property. I have rented this property a multiple times and its amazing. Our family loves it! Recently our family acquired a new pet. He's a 45lb Labrador that's currently at 9 months old. When we rented the property it states "pet friendly". Upon check in I was informed that my dog wasn't old enough to stay at the property. GCR states says that the pet must be at least 16 months old and a maximum of 50 lbs. I was informed that management would make an exception but I would be charged a non refundable deposit of $500. After some back and forth with myself and the check in staff, I was informed that they would reduce it to just shy of $400 or I would have to board my pet elsewhere. Luckily for us, were basically locals. I took my pet home and had a friend take care of him while we were vacationing but sadly my children had to go without their pet for a week due to some miscommunications. I strongly suggest reading the fine print about GCR pet policies or you may be stuck paying a fee you were expecting.

Great little house!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: First time staying at this house. We loved it! Great view from the back deck and only a short golf cart ride to the beach. Loved being in Georgetown when we got to the beach because we could take our pup without limited times. Kids loved fishing off the deck and my 9 year old caught her first fish! Beds were extremely comfortable and everything was very clean. Definitely a great house!
