We always stay in North Myrtle Beach, however, this is the first time at Bay Watch resort. From the beginning we got there a bit before check in and did all the registration paperwork. The employees at the front desk were very nice and helpful. Unfortunately our room was not ready and they allowed us to use the amenities until our room was ready. I checked back at 4pm and the room was still not ready. 4:30 still or ready. They did allow me to store some of our cold items in a refrigerator they had but we were becoming irritable after traveling all day and the room not being ready by 4 when they promise. Finally by 5pm we got our room keys.
They said that the people before us trashed it. No way to verify that or not but I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt given staffing shortages these days.
The unit itself seemed fairly clean. No real serious complains. The couch and chair you can tell are really old and really uncomfortable but it’s hotel furniture what can you expect?
The AC worked well on hot days.
Ok I forgot to mention, trying to find a luggage cart is seemingly impossible. So if you have a lot of stuff you will either pay the bell service or make multiple trips. I think they have probably 3 luggage carts for the whole facility.
Never have I seen such a shortage anywhere I’ve stayed. That was extremely annoying.
We ended up using the bell service. Super nice guy and he loaded and unloaded for us. We tipped him well.
Lastly, the nightmare of the parking garage. This hotel was built many many years ago you can tell. However I’m not sure about this parking garage and who designed it. It’s the most narrow concrete jungle I’ve ever seen. People act like they don’t know how to drive in it and slam on the bales when they see a car as if it’s a new invention. The parking deck was packed due to 4th of July weekend so we always parked on the top 2 floors. Depending on how many daisies are driving in front of you determines how long it will take you to get your car out of the deck. Allow yourself an extra 20 mins anytime you leave. I’m serious. Don’t think you’re going to make your 7pm dinner reservations and try leaving at 6:45pm not going to happen.
Other than that, the pools were fine and overall facilities were kept clean.
I may return in the future if I need a budget friendly place.
