“This is a wonderful place to stay--convenient to the train station and the center of town, but in a quiet area. We stayed twice, before and after hiking in the Lakes District, and stayed in two different rooms. The beds are very comfortable, and both rooms had space for us to spread out. Tip: when it's really hot, the lower floors are cooler! “I needed an overnight stay en route to scotland . Cartref was easy to get to from M6 and felt clean and cosy. Traffic was a little noisy ( I had to open window due to heatwave) but the host thoughtfully supplied earplugs as well as various other "extras " for myself and the dog. Shared bathroom was clean and easily accessible. I would recommend Cartref if visiting Carlisle or just passing through and i would certainly consider staying here again if in the area.”

“We have never visited The Lakes and wanted an overnight stay to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Would highly recommend staying here. The staff were very helpful and welcoming. The food for the evening meal in the restaurant was lovely followed by breakfast the next day, with plenty of options. Also helped with have parking facilities on site and free for visitors to the hotel. Was not disappointed with our stay, and would definitely visit again in the future”
