Breathtaking views

Another great and enjoyable stay

Fishing with a view
Love the private dock for fishing. Great view! Beach not far at all. Third stay here for us - we love this house. Birthday celebration second year in a row and a great time was had by the whole family.

Lovely home on the bay
We spent a month enjoying and exploring the Big Bend area. The home was conveniently located for this. Groceries and other stores about 20 minutes away on an easy route.

Wonderful Relaxing Getaway With Friends
This home has a great layout and view. Two couples enjoyed our time in Panacea and at this property. We would not hesitate to stay again. We do have 2 suggestions. Repair the locks on the sliding doors and add window coverings to sliding doors in bedrooms since decks are accessible from the yard below.

Christmas with a view
Property was exactly what we were looking for. Host is easy to deal with. House is stocked well with all things needed to cook. Beautiful and quiet area and yet close to parks and day trips to places like St. George , Apalachicola and nice drives on big bend. Highly recommend!

Perfect fishing spot!
This house was great and it’s private dock made the whole trip! Very comfortable accommodations but would have preferred blinds on windows. Things were a little dusty but not bad and overall it was a great stay. Would definitely stay again!

Bayside Retreat
The house and dock were awesome! Loved seeing manatees and dolphin. The nicest beach was 20 minutes away, and the few restaurants in the area are only open Thurs-Sun. Grocery store is 25 minutes away. The deck was fabulous but the master bed was terribly saggy in the middle, and the sheets and pillow cases were stained and worn out. When we stripped the beds, we discovered some of the pillows were very stained and dirty, and the second mattress pad on the master bed had what looked like a huge urine stain on it. The gate was broken, and someone who was very high on drugs was on the property and asked us to give them a ride home. We called the police, who eventually came and took the person. It was rather scary. Suggest getting that fence fixed asap.

Thank you so much for taking the time to write this review and offer these suggestions. Your suggestions have been shared with the owners and our cleaners. The owners are addressing the bedding issues, including the master bedroom mattress, all pillows and sheets. They are also coordinating with our cleaner to assure that all old, stained pillows, sheets and mattress pads are thrown away and replaced with new ones. We are all so sorry that you were frightened by the woman on the bike who followed you onto the property to ask for a ride. I’m glad that you reported it to us right away and called the police. The area is normally very safe.

Fishing paradise
Our stay started off with a few hiccups but Deb was quick to help and was always quick to answer when we had any questions. There is a huge variety of fish in the bay and no two days were the same! Highly recommend for a relaxing get away.

Great View and Peaceful
We choose this rental specifically to have a lovely place to rest and relax after a two week tour of several more touristy locations. The house was very lovely and well furnished. The view was outstanding and my entire family enjoyed sitting on the dock or the decks and simply reading and talking with each other. They are lots of hiking trails and parks nearby and multiple marinas for boating and/or fishing charters if you desire. The owner is easy to get along with and several people are in the local area if any problems should arise. Finally, the elevator was extremely convenient especially for my wife and I who are in their seventies. Excellent get away for family or friends.

Perfect home for family vacation
This house is gorgeous and is absolutely perfect for a family getaway. Very clean and nice and had all amenities need for a comfortable stay. Boat dock is perfect for fishing. We had zero complaints or problems- loved sitting on the screened in porch watching sunrise. We will definitely come back to this place!

Wonderful house on the bay
The house is wonderfully located on the bay with great views and very easy access to the bike trail, hiking, and kayaking. It is a very large and well designed house with a great kitchen and porches (one screened and the other not). I would definitely like to stay here again and I recommend it to others.

Excellent Rental
We loved this house one of the best rentals we have had. I can't say enough about this house. We made some very good Thanksgiving memories here. The house was well stocked and had everything we needed. The house is absolutely gorgeous.

Beautiful Views needs a few upgrades
We were a party of 5 adults and stayed 9 days. The views were gorgeous at this property but unfortunately the bedrooms had no curtains as stated and rolling the shutters weren't as easy and quite loud so we did without, making it uncomfortable to go out on the deck knowing others' bedrooms were exposed on the shared balconies. The house needs new towels and pillows...regardless how clean they might have been no one wants to see stains on their towel nor pillows . The little sandy beach from the pictures was nonexistent and apparently there was construction going on because there was a cement mixer at the dock and a trailer with tools under the house which wasvremoved the day after the tropical storm 2 days before we were supposed to leave. Even with my complaints the house was stocked with all kinds of amenities and having an elevator for the old folks was a big plus. A dream property for anyone owning a boat. It's so quiet you can hear the puffs of the manatees coming up for air the evening from the screened deck. Loved watching the sun rise and set and watching the white squirrels chasing each other. Would definitely rent again but I'd bring my own linens and a boat!

Quiet and Beautiful location
Our stay at the Bayside Retreat was wonderful! The house is located directly on the bay with beautiful sunrises and sunsets. The screened porch, overlooking Ochlockonee Bay, was the place everyone loved to hang out. The house was perfect for our group of six. Plenty of room and furnished with all that we needed. Deb, the property manager, was wonderful to work with. Check-in and check-out was easy and Deb sent text reminders about setting out the garbage and responded quickly whenever I sent messages to her. Our stay was great and we can't wait to return!

Bayside Retreat Family Vacation
My family had a great time staying at Bayside Retreat. The house was exactly as advertised. The dock was perfect with lights, outlets, and fish cleaning station. The pier attached to the carport so you literally walked out the door to the dock! Look forward to staying again.

Beautiful getaway
Great family escape for fishing and relaxing. Comfy couch, screened in porch, dock, beautiful views, and elevator (all checks). The elevator was not a requirement but definitely a highlight when you are staying a week. The sunsets are breathtaking and every bedroom has a view of the water. You cannot go wrong booking here. The commutation is great.

This is a very spacious and comfortable home! It was well stocked with clean linens, kitchen dishes, pots and pans, and lots of extras. We loved having the waterfront view and covered dock. For a nice relaxing getaway, this is a quiet, rather remote destination.

We enjoyed staying at your home. The area was very laid back and close to several beaches that we visited that was not crowded at all. The house was very spacious and furnished nicely. The kitchen had all the appliances that you would need. Having an elevator was also very helpful for our parents. We would love to stay again.

The property is as advertised. Plenty of space for the 6 of us that stayed and we really enjoyed the views from the porch. The area is very laid back with an adequate number of restaurants. We especially enjoyed the Tiki Hut on Alligator Point and Angelo's. I highly recommend the area as well as this property.

Truly a Bayside Retreat!
This is a lovely family home! We are grateful to the owners who are willing to share this amazing property with others. Thank you. Plenty of space, light and bright, beautiful hardwood floors, quiet street, large decks, well appointed, private setting….and the view!!! The home is built for its water view: 180* view from every bedroom, deck and dock. The big kitchen had everything we needed to feed and accommodate our family of 5. Having the elevator was a plus to accommodating our elderly mother. High regard for Deb. She is helpful, responsive and prompt with communication. If back in this area, we would definitely stay in this home again.

This is a beautiful house with an amazing view. If you're looking for a nice relaxing vacation, this is the place. The house was stocked with everything we needed. The downside is that the restaurant options are limited, and the closest grocery store is about a 25 minute drive, so plan accordingly.

Family time
Great time fishing and enjoying our 3 adults kids and their other halves. House was perfect for the 8 of us. The dining table fit us all! Neighbor is the nicest fella. Kinda hard getting in the boats( my kids thought for sure I would fall in) haha. Thanks a bunch!

Ba;yside Retreat was a retreat
We really enjoyed the property. The views were awesome especially the sunrises and sunsets. The furniture is well lived in. The kitchen is barely adequate but we ate out most of the time. When we did cook we had to improvise with pans and cooking utensils. We, also, had to buy some spices. Overall the property is in a very quiet area.

There were two faults with the property. The upstairs bathroom shower is stopped up and did not drain while showering. The grill outside is dangerous! I turn the gas on and went upstairs to get the meat and when I came back down the grill was on fire! These two things need to be addressed by the property owner. Other than that we all had a great time.

Great location on Ochlockonee Bay
We really liked the location on Ochlockonee Bay and convenient to Hwy 98. The house is well-stocked and furnished. We did a lot of cooking so appreciated that the kitchen had everything. Also, plenty of bath towels, plenty of seating on the porch, and comfortable beds. The area was quiet. A long bike and walking path runs along this road corridor.
