Review at the South Arm Retreats

We have stayed at South Arm Retreats 3 times in the past 4 years. We like that it is clean, comfortable and quite and the rates are good.

Great layout - spacious living area and eating area! Had a luncheon for 30 people and had plenty of room. Great view of Lake!

They have really spent the time on cleaning and making the property peaceful and relaxing. There’s a little beach area across the street where I sat and watched the lake and read a book and relaxed.

EJ visit April 23

Our 2 day stay was excellent as always, the accommodations were first class, clean an upscale. The new shower unit was an additional plus!

East Jordan visit Dec 30

We came up to visit family bringing son and granddaughter. We booked the family room that was absolutely perfect! As always very professional and clean as a whistle! The new mattress was awesome 👍 thank you and Happy New Year 👍

Room is compact and wi-fi was weak making it difficult to watch TV or use our devices. The bed is comfortable and the property is in a nice location across the road from Lake Charlevoix.

Cute Motel in East Jordan

South Arms Retreats in E. Jordan is a cute place to stay. Across from the water, the 8 unit motel looks like it has been recently updated with more to come. The room we were in was small by most standards but had what we needed for our mid-week stay; queen bed, fridge, microwave, coffee, A/C, gas heater, fan, tiny bathroom with a decent shower and everything else you’ll need. Remote sign-in and electronic lock entry is convenient and the owners seem very responsive (mostly by text).

Cute Little Creek!

We took this trip in this area so we could travel north, south and east. Room was perfect for what we needed. A little difficult to get the room combo. You have to call a phone number to get the code. Other than that, pretty easy. Cute little creek the runs through the property.

Small Compact Room

Room was clean. The room was ALOT smaller then pictures on site. The bathroom was TINY and the mirror was hung very high my girlfriend could only see her forehead in the mirror. Also need more then one tiny ice cube tray in the freezer.

The room was fine. We knew it was goingi g to be small but was very well set up. Only issue is we had no sound on the TV. We asked the owners about it and they knew nothing about it. And since their is no one on site to assist it was never fixed or looked at.

November Stay

The location was just outside the main area of town. Nice views, close to beaches. Would be a nice place to go to in the summer. Clean and friendly staff. We had a toilet set break, and was fixed within an hour. Towels were easily accessible. A couple of things need attention. The handle on the bathroom sink was not attached to the faucet - it needed a set screw to hold in place. We were visiting in freezing weather and the walk ways were slippery from the melted snow on the roof. The eves did not catch all of the water.

The shower did not work. The coffee pot did not work. The steps were unsafe. There was no communication. Maintenance came too late to matter and shower broke again immediately. Chairs by the water were dirty and piled in weeds. Terribly in need of updating and refurbishing. I will say it was clean but that is my only positive comment!

This property smelled awful. The carpet was very dirty, as in you could not walk barefoot at all. This property is old and the 2nd bedroom light flickers and may or may not come on. The coffee pot is on a dresser next to the bed, with about 6 inches between them, thus the dresser is unusable. The shower was very small. This property sent 1 or more messages daily before our arrival letting us know about all their rules. Before checking out we had to take off all the sheets, but not mix with the towels, take out the trash, and text we were leaving. The only saving grace was the king bed was comfortable. The second “bedroom” had a plywood door and was too far from the wall a/c unit to be cool at night. I asked the property management company a question and never heard back. I would not stay there again.

We were sent the wrong virtual passcode. She answered immediately and corrected it. Thank you. The room was very cozy but the mattress was not very suitable. Really loved the experience minus the lack of sleep mattress.
