  • Welcome to our Up North home away from home and vacation in beautiful, quiet Roscommon, Michigan! This newly remodeled home is located on a quiet country road with stunning Ausable River access. Close to both Higgins & Hougton Lakes.

    Also, Bear Cottage is only 15 minutes from the world famous "Forest Dunes" golf course!!!

    This home features 2 bedrooms, 2 baths and even an extra flat screen TV in one of the bedrooms.

    All our appliances are brand new. We have a full kitchen, yet we even added a handy kitchenette to the master bedroom for privacy.

    Bring your canoe; bring your fishing poles. Your Ausable River access is just a short stroll down this quiet country road.

Great place, close to town. Road out front can be busy at times, but still pretty quiet. Home was clean, owner was very responsive when there was an issue. We'd stay again, and would certainly recommend it to others.

Yearly Family Fly Fishing Trip

Great location for us. Less than 20 minutes to Grayling where other family members were staying. The kids loved being able to walk down the street and swim in the river.

Annual family get-together

Very nice neighborhood and lovely home. Just what we needed. Not enough space for everyone at the family home, so this was perfect. Will definitely be back 😊

Positives: location close to cute town and river, pet-friendly, quiet, safe neighborhood. Easy car ride to lakes and parks. We enjoyed the farmers market and coffee shop. The rocks were great.Negatives: surprised to find the place NOT clean based on other reviews raving about the cleanliness. They was feces on the front toilet seat and smeared in the bowl, the corners of the floors and bathrooms had hairs and cobwebs in them, the shower drain had a hairball in it, several hairs in the bedsheets. Several dishes were dirty. We were only there two nights, so we did just clean up ourselves, but cleanliness is of huge importance to me when renting a place, so this was quite a turnoff. I also found it sketchy that instructions hanging on the fridge said to “NOT” strip the bedsheets. How then do we know that they get washed? The back bedroom was chilly and the beds were not comfortable (the couch served as a comfy alternative.) Other than that, the only communication we had from Ed was right after we booked with all of the information. There was no reminder to confirm and no message asking if everything was okay. I am used to more communication from the owners with those types of things. We use STRs often. If you’re not too picky about these things, you’ll probably enjoy this property.

Family fishing trip.

wonderful house/cabin right by the au sable. Owner very accessible and friendly. Our fishermen had a great weekend. Store close by, all amenities for food we brought as well. We will be back!

work away from home

Home was nice, had after thing we needed and was closed to our work site. I had a two person crew so two bedrooms with Full size bed worked out fine.

Stunning

We had the opportunity to stay at Ed's place for a short weekend getaway and it was perfect. Kayaked the Au Sable River with Paddle Brave and hiked in Grayling. Perfect location for us and everyone in town was friendly and accommodating! It was a great and relaxing trip, thanks Ed!
