We decided to pay more for this house rather than stay at a cheaper location so we could be right on the beach and it was totally worth it. California does not have warm beaches so my kids get cold so it was so nice to be able to get back and washed off with the outdoor shower and warmed back up so quickly. It made it so we could play at the beach multiple times a day. The patio furniture made it absolutely perfect to sit out and enjoy watching the birds and views of the ocean. There is a sidewalk right next to the property before the beach and it was moderately busy but everyone was friendly and it was much quieter than on the ocean side. There is also the park and playground nearby that my kids enjoyed walking to. Parking was difficult with our Buick Enclave but still totally doable and so nice to have a garage. Aside from the amazing location it was also a lovely home. Everything was clean and organized and we just had a truly perfect stay.

Amazing Stay on The Bay

This was by far one of the nicest vacations we have had as a family. This house was EVERYTHING. Clean, Safe, Accommodating, Perfect Location AND if you love the sand and water it’s literally steps from your door. Nightly Fireworks. Drift Vacation Homes was amazing. Answered all my questions and even referred us to BabyQuip which saved us from having to haul a trunk load of baby equipment. I can’t say enough about this home and Drift Vacations. We will certainly be back soon. Thank you for making our trip and time together so seamlessly easy and perfect!!!!

Graduation weekend

If you are looking for a quiet beach front location look no further. Staying on Mission Bay is wonderful for easy walk out access to the sand and gentle water of the bay. Great people watching as walkers, joggers and bikers cruise along the boardwalk. The house had everything you need to enjoy the beach, and the house was clean and well appointed. Parking available in the garage was great to have, but small/mid-size cars only. Highly recommend this house for any gathering, especially families with young children. Lots of beach toys for the kids and the bay is ideal for the young ones to splash away in the gentle water. Love Mission Beach and this house only highlights what to love.

Great Stay in Mission Beach!

I had a great time visiting friends in San Diego and staying in this awesome property right on the sand on Mission Beach - Bayside!I love the south end of Mission Beach on the bayside because it is lovely and quiet. This property was right where I like to be - great view every morning drinking my coffee on the patio.I'll be back!

Great location & view!

Great beach condo at the southern end of the Mission Bay boardwalk. Great views. Well stocked house with all the amenities. Very comfortable for our family of four. Noise from upstairs tenants was definitely noticeable, but is to be expected in close quarters of Beach living. We would rent again!

Great location/ Bad bathroom

This is the 2nd time our family of 4 (two young kids) have stayed at this house. We hoped it would be "our spot" in SD, however we don't know that it will be. We love the 3 bed, 2.5 bath, easy layout, gate at stairs, laundry & most importantly the location! You walk out the sliding doors & are right on the bay. It's quieter & calmer than oceanside, which we prefer for our young kids. Now, the reason why we were disappointed... When we stayed at this house in Oct 2023, the downstairs 1/2 bath had what looked like some water damage and a smell. This year, Oct 2024, the bathroom smelled stronger (mildew/ musty) & looked to have signs of mold behind the toilet and in the top corner of the room. We chose to keep the door to this room closed during our stay to avoid the smell, however anytime the A/C would kick on, the smell would push into the lower level of the house. I felt like our family was breathing in mold. We then tried turning off the A/C, but we also specifically chose a house with A/C so we could stay cool particularly at night. Additionally, there was a smell to the 2nd floor jack & jill bathroom as well, which we also chose to use only for quick teeth brushing. I do hope they renovate the bathrooms as this could be such a great vacation house. They did update some area rugs, that needed it. I would love to see an upgrade on the couch & pillows in tv room too, which have seen better days. Great house, unfortunately, I just can't stay somewhere with that smell again. :(

Great stay, but slightly misleading

Beautiful property and so close to the sand! You cannot beat the sunrise from the master bedroom balcony! The bunk room worked out nicely for my sister and her daughters. There is a "Jack and Jill" bathroom between the bunk room and the 2nd guest room which was really convenient for my Mom and sister. The master bedroom is spacious and the master bath is beautiful. The outdoor patio was really cool. I loved sitting by the fire pit and visiting with people who walked by on the path. We even had some trick or treaters on Halloween on the path (no one came to the door.) What I found misleading was that the VRBO posting says "ground floor" which the living space is ground floor. I could not see any information about all three bedrooms being on the second floor. In the pictures it looked like the master was on the first floor. I should have confirmed, so that is on me. My mom has trouble walking so going upstairs was a hassle. There was no hand soap in the "Jack and Jill" bathroom, which is pretty minor in the whole visit. The only other thing that was inconvenient was the narrow garage. I could barely fit my SUV in the garage and had to exit out the passenger door to barely get out the car.

Amazing!

Our family really enjoyed our stay! The property is beautiful, and the location was perfect for our family! Little walking distance to some restaurants and coffee but the tradeoff is the quite location and having a great park (with parking) nearby. Owners have thought of everything for a great stay. We were even surprised to have access to a kayak and paddle board. Can't wait to book another stay at On the Sand!

Family Vacation

This house was amazing, steps away from the Bay. We loved ever minute playing games in the sand. Sitting on the porch every night with a fire going was the greatest end to every day. House was clean and had everything we could image made are stay even better. We will be telling our family and friends about Drift vacation rentals. Property manger was on every email fast and efficiently. One of the best vacations ever.....♥

Wonderful place

We loved everything about it. The location is right on the bay with a sandy beach and the view from the big windows of the master bedroom is amazing. The furniture is attractive and comfortable. The kitchen is very well stocked and excellent for cooking. We enjoyed using the paddle board and sitting out on the patio watching the fireworks each night from Sea World

Great place at mission beach

We had a great stay with our family of 6 at mission beach San Diego. The place was right in the beach and just a short walk to the ocean. The neighborhood was really nice and you were close to everything (shops, airport, seaworld, the zoo and old town) We lived the house and did not want to leave. We definitely come back!

Beautiful Location!

This is a great house on the quiet end of Mission Beach/Bay. It was the perfect location for our family who enjoys fishing near the channel, boogie boarding in the ocean and paddle boarding in the bay. The house was well equipped and spacious. We will definitely be returning.

Can’t say enough about this property!

This our 2nd time staying! It is the most practical, luxurious, convenient, home with all the amenities you need! The property manager was in constant communication, accommodated to our needs, even brought a pack and play for our little one! The bay is so much fun for families and the kids can swim without worry! Maximize your vacation by staying here! We will definitely return, highly recommended!

A beachy retreat on the bay

This is the second time my family has stayed at this property and we love it. The bay is quiet and peaceful with the clean, sandy beach right off of the patio. When we want a little more action, we just walk a few blocks over to Belmont Park. The owners are very easy to communicate with and it’s just an all around enjoyable spot to stay in San Diego!

Nice location and good for a small family

We were a group of seven. 2 couples and 3 older kids. The townhouse is actually set up for 5 people comfortably since there is a small living area with seating for 5 max. The patio is great and so is the master bedroom. We had super loud renters above us for half our trip, and they were using our patio to walk to the boardwalk, which was inconsiderate- but just be aware of other renters sharing the space. The place was very clean and a beautiful location on the bay and a quick 5 minute walk to the beach.
