The property itself was very nice especially with the Christmas decorations. We checked in on Tuesday and check out was Sunday. On Thursday our Family Christmas turned into a nightmare. The electric went out due to a winter storm that happened. The owner told us to hunker down because the power would only be out for a few hours at most. The power was out for over 40 hours. We had to survive over 40 hours without electric, heat, or water. The property is all electric so no wood or gas burning fireplace, the property had not one candle nor flashlight. We had to try, to not freeze to death with temperatures at 9 degrees and a pandemic with no water and unable to flush any toilets because the pump is electric. The owner had no provisions in place for any kind of power outage. My family was left to survive on our own, because we all saved for this vacation we couldn't afford to go to a hotel nor could we afford to leave because we had family come in from all over the U.S via airport and flights didn't leave until Sunday. So we were stuck! The owner offered on Christmas day to pay for battery powered heaters if we could go and find them but because it was Christmas nothing was opened. So we had to shovel the driveway to get out, to find a gas station that sold charcoal to try to cook food to eat being we bought all the food with us because we thought we would have access to a fully functional kitchen. You would think an out of state owner renting out there property would have some type of provisions in place, in the event of an emergency or an act of God. That the renter shouldn't have to go without heat, water, electric, and sanitized bathroom conditions for over 40 hours with temperatures below 10 degrees.
