“We were concerned that staying in a pub might be noisy but you couldn’t hear those in the pub or outside noise. The room was a good size, but with a character property comes a few negatives. Firstly the stairs to the second floor were steep and narrow. Floors are uneven, slope and creak. The bed was too soft for us but the pillows too hard. The room was far too hot even after switching off the towel rail. A fan is provided and was kept on overnight but didn’t make much difference. The window was...

“Great place to stay, good location, easy to check in and good standard to the room.”

“Clean comfortable room, super king bed, good shower. No opening windows so patio door needs to be open with a restriction. Sunday roast was very good, a bit slow but 20 odd people showed up late & unexpected for a meal. Refurbished and modernised to a high standard. ”

“It's a great little country pub. The welcome was warm, and the breakfast was very good. My room was ok (room 5 first floor), the ensuite is small (a larger person would not fit). The bed was creaky and uncomfortable and the noise from the bar is very loud.”

“We arrived at 17:45 on the Sunday, to find that the kitchen closed at 18:00. We had just walked 14 miles as part of our Grand Union Canal walk for Yorkshire Cancer Research. The staff were very accommodating and we were well fed! The shock was when we received the receipt for the meals and a few beers and a 10% service charge had been added. We were not asked whether we wanted to pay that. Given the circumstances, we would probably have agreed to it, but it would have been nice to be asked. ”

“Lady at breakfast made the stay exceptional. Wonderfully friendly, interesting and informative. Great breakfast. What wasn't great was the noise travel from what sounded like macerator flushing from rooms above or nearby, and no bottles of water left in the room.”

“A 1 night stay for work reasons. The pub and food are excellent with a good selection at a reasonable price. My room was comfortable but very cold due to the old leaking sash windows. All in all for the price it's ok for a 1 night stay. ”
