Another great stay

This was our second stay here and it was just as nice as the first time. Terrific hosts, warm and cozy atmosphere, everything you need for a perfect stay in Tahoe!

Family Vacation

The owners are very responsive and awesome hosts! The property was just as described and pictured. It was very comfortable, relaxing, wonderful for a family of 3 (with 9 year old) and gorgeous inside and out! The location is great, just a quick drive to the beach, parks and casino/heavenly area. My family would highly recommend this property!

Hakuna Matata floated the troubles away

Loved the house- so cute. The owner was very kind in helping me light the fire as well. The kids and I loved it.

My wife and I had a great stay here. The space was perfect for two and had everything we needed. So many extras were graciously provided - snacks, water, toothbrushes and toothpaste, travel size tissue packets, hand sanitizer and lip balm. We especially loved the large, gorgeous outdoor deck and soaking bathtub. Very comfortable bed - this is the perfect place to get away and truly relax. Location is great, too.

Relaxing time at Hakuna Matata

Great place to relax and enjoy Tahoe! Owners were very responsive to needs. Apartment was super clean and well maintained. Lots of nice extras and amenities.

4 Nights in South Lake Tahoe

The property is perfect for a couple. The location was great for all of the activities we had planned, i.e., hiking, visiting historic sites, cruising the lake, and it is close to lots of good places to eat. We particularly enjoyed having our wine and cheese in the gazebo in the lovely backyard. We definitely will stay here again when we return to Lake Tahoe.

It ain't no passing craze

A great escape to the mountains. We loved our stay at Hakuna Matata. The accomodations were great and the comfort was worth every penny. After unloading the car, it really felt like there were no worries for the rest of our stay.

Ski trip

This property was a wonderful place to stay! John and Allison were very responsive hosts and were very hospitable and welcoming. This place was close to lots of restaurants and Heavenly resort, and it was the perfect about of space for two adults. One thing to keep in mind is that even though it appears in searches for “sleeps 4” it only sleeps two adults, and two children, not four adults. We loved the space and would come back in a heartbeat.

A very clean well maintained place. The only reason I dont give it a perfect rating is the futon/couch. Very uncomfortable place to sit. Only one other chair and thats not bad. But the couch hurts just to sit on it.

Nice little place, great character

We did a long-weekend ski trip with our young family. We enjoyed the stay and would happily go back. The place was nice and cozy with good character and personality. The kitchen is well-equip for how minimal it is, but there isn't really a space for 4 people to sit down and eat together. We ended up eating out more than expected.

Getaway with my daughters

My daughters, 8 & 10, and I stayed at Hakuna Matata two nights for a girls' trip. The accomodations were even more amazing than we imagined. The jetted tub was deep and relaxing and the bathroom was luxurious. Lots of extra goodies and toiletries. Fully stocked coffee bar. Everything you need and then some! Thanks for the wonderful stay! We'll be back!

The most relaxing stay

I felt completely at home and very comfortable staying at their Hakuna Matata getaway. 🦁 🐘 🐒 🦓 These wonderful hosts pay so much attention to detail, there wasn’t a stone left unturned. The privacy alone is worth the stay, but the luxurious, well thought amenities made it complete. The area itself is beautiful and their neck of the woods is very serene. Perfect for our small family!

This was a perfect property for our family (2 adults, 3-year-old, 1-year-old). The neighborhood is quiet but just a short drive from everything we wanted. We used the backyard for some lawn games and s'mores and it was great to have a place to play with the kids right there. The hosts are super friendly and while we didn't have any issues, I could tell that they would be very responsive if we had needed anything. One small thing that was nice was that they had put labels all over the apartment to help you use it - things like which light switches did what and where to find instructions for the hot plate. It was fully stocked with everything we could possibly want - coffee, snacks, soaps and other bath items (the bathtub was great! it was big enough for me to get in with both kids, which they got a kick out of), bathrobes, etc. It is clear that the hosts really thought through what someone staying there would need to have and need to know. We were here in the summer, which was lovely. With the windows open it stayed quite cool. I also think it would be cozy in the winter - we didn't use the fireplaces but they looked really nice. I would definitely stay here again!

We had a hakuna matata stay!

Great lodging as advertised. It’s clean, well-maintained, and have all the basics you need (towels, hairdryers, chapstick, bath salts, coffee, tea, cereal bars, soft drinks/ water, eggs, even instant noodle! Great bed and shower too! Great place to stay with a small family / group of friends if you’re vacationing in South Lake Tahoe.

Amazing stay at Hakuna Matata

Amazing property. Really nice atmosphere and perfect location in proximity to all the important landmarks in south lake tahoe. The apartment itself was clean, cozy, smelled nice, and well stocked with all the basic appliances and equipment for a comfortable stay.

Best place to stay in tahoe

Property is amazing. Ambience in room is excellent. We enjoyed our stay there. It has very good bath tub, and interestingly they have bath bomb as well.
