Historic Top Floor Condo at the Grand Traverse Commons

  • STEP INTO HISTORY! The Village at Grand Traverse Commons is an experience like no other. Formerly the Traverse City State Hospital--this marvel of preservation is now a bustling community of mixed commercial and residential uses.

    I purchased this condo in 2017. It is located on the top (3rd) floor of Cottage 20. It is accessible by elevator and is also equipped with its own private washer and dryer.

    The space is ideally suited for 2 people--but could accommodate 2 additional guests on the queen sized, memory foam sleeper sofa. This is a wonderful vantage point from which to explore the area. It is cozy, comfortable and equipped with everything you need to make your stay feel relaxed and carefree. There is an electric fireplace for added ambiance and warmth. Guests may also enjoy the gorgeous front covered porch.

We absolutely loved our stay at this beautiful, well appointed condo located in an incredible historic setting. There are great shops, fantastic restaurants and tours of the property available within walking distance. Can't wait for a return visit!

The condo was perfect and the location was also great! We were in town for a wedding and it was close to the venue and to town. The village area was cute with the shops, restaurants, and walking area. The only downfall was the 4pm check in. I asked at booking time for an early check in due to our wedding time being so close to the check in time. I was told to ask the day of arrival if early check in was possible, which I did. Unfortunately, we were only able to check in 30 min early, which meant I had to figure out a place to get ready for the wedding. Also, we didn’t have time to unload our car until after the wedding at midnight. It would have been great if the owner could have asked the cleaning crew to try and get it cleaned early to help with our situation, but it didn’t seem like it was too important to try and accommodate us. 4pm is late for a check in when 11am is check out. The condo is not a big amount of space to clean.

Great Place

The property is great and the location is especially cool being in the re-developed former state hospital. Lots to do and see, and good dining options without getting in the car. Absolutely would stay here again.

Fascinating historical buildings. The tour of asylum and tunnels was excellent. Beautiful views from the wineries Chateau Chantal and Bonobos. We liked the restaurant choices in Traverse City. We highly recommend The Red Spire at Grand Village Commons for breakfast/lunch. Shops are there and fun to walk around. Moomers ice cream and Grand Traverse pie company are a must. Wonderful stay!

Was looking for a great spot for a long weekend away. This was perfect. The location was amazing. The space was ideal - cozy and comfortable with more than enough space for one or two people.

Excellent location with good restaurants, nice walking paths and bike friendly roads. Very quite and clean apartment.
