Superb in Every Way
This Gite is spacious and well fitted out, in a beautiful, peaceful setting within easy train or car distance of Lyon, Geneva and regional towns that are well worth visiting - Chamonix and Annesee for example. Local village meets all shopping needs. Our hosts, Sarah and Claude were exceptionally welcoming and helpful. They and the Gite and location made it a 5 week trip to remember.

Gîte fantastique!
Moments hors du temps loin de l'agitation de la ville. Le gîte de l'école est fantastique tant par sa situation que par son équipement. Les différentes vues sont un enchantement du matin au soir. La région offre beaucoup de possibilités de randonnées à pied ou à vélo. La piscine est un plus pour se rafraichir et se poser. Merci à Sarah et Claude pour leur accueil et disponibilité. Vivement l'été prochain pour les vacances!

Großartig
Eine sehr schöne und außergewöhnliche Unterkunft mit großem Pool und Garten. Wir hatten eine sehr.schöne Zeit hier. Die Gegend ist traumhaft und es gibt sehr viel zu entdecken. Die Vermieter waren sehr freundlich und jederzeit erreichbar und hatten viele gute Tipps für uns. Wir haben uns hier sehr wohl gefühlt.

Fantastisch
Een geweldig huis in een hele mooie omgeving. We werden vriendelijk ontvangen door Sarah en Claude en er stond iets lekkers voor ons klaar. Het huis is van alle gemakken voorzien. Mooie omgeving. Wij zijn o.a. naar de watervallen, lac du bourget en chanaz geweest. Terwijl de mannen gingen vissen genoten de vrouwen bij het zwembad. Een aanrader is zeker een wijnproeverij bij de buurman Claude.

Sehr schöner Aufenthalt
Sehr charmantes Haus mit naturnahem gepflegten Garten, schönem, sauberem Pool und für Hundehalter wichtig, vollständig eingezäunt. Die Besitzer sind äußerst freundlich und gut erreichbar, falls mal etwas fehlt. Uns gefällt es sehr, klare Empfehlung!

Peaceful Summer Retreat
Such a lovely place to stay, absolutely amazing views and so close to Col du Grand Colombier. A 10 min drive to Culoz where you can get a cheap 1hr train journey to Geneva, or slightly longer to Lyon. Would recommend to anyone and also would stay again without hesitation! Just fix the oven!! Dan.

The real France
This area is just stunning and the hosts are a fabulous and responsive source for all enquiries. The house feels like a true experience of rural France and the pool area is the cherry on top - wouldnt hesitate to return.

Great place to stay an relax
We stayed 6 nights in the beautiful house and very much enjoyed the swimming pool, the extraordinary views on the Alpes, the French bakery in the village and of course the winery next door! Sarah was very friendly and had great tips for us on short excursions for us and the kids. Absolutely fabulous whether also.

Superbe région.
Le Bugey une région superbe, à découvrir absolument. Ses paysages, ses cascades, sa flore mais aussi sa gastronomie et ses vins. Le gite est spacieux et décoré avec goût. La literie est hyper confortable. L'accueil est chaleureux. Nous pensons déjà y retourner.

Séjour agréable dans une maison typique 1900
Très belle maison au sein d'un village calme. Le terrain n'est pas clos mais ça n'a pas été un problème pour les enfants. Une fois fermée, la piscine est bien sécurisée. La maison est confortable, petit plus avec le billard. L'équipement vidéo au top. Celui de la cuisine est restreint et mériterait d'être plus fournis pour pouvoir mitonner des petits plats à la hauteur de la propreté et des spécialités régionales à déguster devant la magnifique vue sur les montagnes.

Wunderbare entspannte Tage
Das Ferienobjekt ist von 1903 und sehr liebevoll restauriert. Pool und Garten mit dem weiten Blick über die Weinberge auf den Grand Colombier sind großartig. Tischtennisplatte und Billardtisch runden einen gelungenen Urlaub ab. Man kann auch in direkter Umgebung tolle Ausflüge machen, die gesamte Gegend ist touristisch noch nicht so erschlossen, dies macht das Department sehr attraktiv. Die Gastgeber waren sehr herzlich und haben uns mit vielen guten Informationen versorgt. Insgesamt ein toller Aufenthalt.

Superb location for bike, family or any other holiday
A perfect "gite" for a any sort of holiday, well located, beautifull swimmingpool, flexible host(s), supermarket en 5* pizza restaurant nearby, 5 min from the grand de colombier, col and mont du chat and many nice hills within traveling distance. It does not really matter if you would like to relax and stay around this "gite" with friend or family, will cycle, or do both you can do for days, weeks or ...

Nous avons séjourné avec nos deux filles de 20 et 23 ans et nos deux chiens durant deux semaines au Gite de l’école. Ce gite est admirablement décoré et aménagé, il offre tout le confort pour permettre une détente absolue. La maison, le jardin et la piscine sont superbement entretenus. Nous avons également découvert une région riche en découvertes avec ses cascades, randonnées et ses villages magnifiques. Proche du lac du Bourget avec une large choix d’activités mais loin des cluster touristiques, ce que nous recherchions. Nous avons été très touchés par l'accueil de Sarah et Claude qui nous ont fait nous sentir chez nous dès notre arrivée. Séjour parfait, nous reviendrons.

Reposant, complètement déconnecté et un grand bonheur de se retrouver en famille
En adéquation avec l annonce, pas besoin de sortir de la propriété pour s occuper, chacun a trouver sa place pour pour lire, méditer. Gîte a noté dans son carnet d'adresse. Je conseille cette location idéale pour les familles, les enfants prennent un grand plaisir dans le jardin. Merci Sarah et Claude pour ce Gîte bien entretenu .

Toller Urlaub in einer tollen Umgebung.
Sehr schönes Objekt. Sehr gemütlich eingerichtet, toller Pooltisch und Pool. Die Vermieter waren wir letztes Jahr top. Geht nicht besser. Einige Sachen sollten für den Preis erneuert werden, wie z.B die Sonnenschirme am Pool oder die Auflagen für Sitzgarnitur am Pool.

Fantastic once again
This was our second time staying at Sarah & Claude’s gites, the property was fantastic, everything that we could have wished for. The swimming pool is just lovely, with views of the mountains and right next to the local vineyard, we spent so many hours in and around the pool, we loved it so much we booked for next year. The Gite has a pool table, table tennis, trampoline and climbing frame so helped keep the kids entertained when not in the pool. There are many local lakes which quite and peaceful, if you into cycling you have so many miles of great roads to explore and can climb the Grand Colombier from 4 different routes, on a clear day the view from the Grand Colombier is spectacular, watching sunset with a 360 degree view is amazing, with Mont Blanc in the distance. There are so many things to keep you entertained whilst you stay, from local walks, parcore to canyoning depending how energetic you feel. Sarah & Claude are tremendous hosts and make sure that you have a lovely break. A trip to the local vineyard to sample the wines is well worth it, and allows you to stock up for your stay. As a family we totally recommend this area and the Gite.

Tolles Naturerlebnis mit Pool-Highlight!
Ein super-schönes, uriges Haus in toller Lage mit guter Zimmeraufteilung. Toller Außenbereich und natürlich ist der Pool mit seiner schönen Lage ein absolutes Highlight! Einziger Nachteil des Hauses ist, dass es im 1. OG, in dem alle Schlafzimmer liegen, nur ein WC gibt und sich auch das größere, moderne Bad im EG befindet. Mit Familie oder guten Freunden ist das aber auch kein Problem. Die Ausstattung der Küche könnte etwas umfangreicher sein. Ansonsten alles top und zum Wohlfühlen. Die Gastgeber Sara und Claude sind supernett und absolut zuverlässig. Sie haben tolle Tipps für die Region und standen immer mit Rat und Tat zur Seite. Wir können das Haus nur weiterempfehlen!

Great stay despite the worst June weather
This is a great spot for enjoying the countryside, walks, waterfalls, lakes and rivers. Sarah was there to meet us and provide useful tips. Not a great deal to do when it rains in the local area but I'd happily return to enjoy the pool and surrounding vineyards in the sunshine.

Beautiful location, super house, private pool.
A super house with loads of space and games for young families inside the house and outside. We had a great welcome from Sarah and some lovely local produce in the kitchen for our arrival. There were a few beetle type insects in the bedroom the first night, but once we removed them no others appeared. The pool was brilliant, about 20 degrees (early October!) and not overlooked ... only by the Grand Columbier! Ideal and beautiful location for any cyclist wanting to ride one of the Tours regular routes. The views from the top were just magical ... breathtaking ... out of this world. The garden is not secure, it's open to a neighbours vegetable patch and another neighbours small vineyard. The advert 'facilities' lists not only things at the house eg swimming pool, but also things you can do in the area eg sauna, massage, kayak etc. The figs from the tree in the garden were ripe delicious. A quiet walk (1.5 miles) down a quiet track, steep in part, gets you into the village of Artemare with a boulangerie, Carrefour Contact, butcher and restaurants (we can recommend Le Seran for a lovely meal). Sarah and Claude were perfect and responded promptly to our enquiries. Without question, we would stay there again.

Amazing location, stunning views and lovely hosts!
Where do I start!... The views...wow! Nestled in a small sleepy village at the base of Le Grand Columbier and surrounded by vineyards with clear views of the mountains and stunning sunrises, what more could we ask for?! We were a family of three adults and four children ranging from 5yrs - 15yrs. They were never bored! The pool is fantastic, clean and refreshing after a day lazing in the sun on the comfy loungers - lots of fun had by all. The pool table and ping-pong were great hits with the kids and adults alike too. Beautiful villages to explore nearby, especially Chanaz. An early morning swim in the Lac de Virieu was a little piece of heaven, even more so as we had the whole lake to ourselves! It's definitely worth the drive up Le Grand Columbier for the spectacular views of the Alps and the Rhone Valley. A day trip to Geneva is only an hour away on the train - the old town is worth a visit. Sarah and Claude are genuinely lovely hosts and couldn't be more helpful, even waiting for us to arrive at a ridiculous hour - I think it was after 1am! They arranged to come with us for a wine tasting evening at the neighbours, Claude Collomb, so they could translate for us. The wine is very nice, a little more special knowing it's made from the grapes surrounding the gite! There is so much more I could write about this wonderful little corner of rural France but you'll just have to visit to see it for yourselves! Wonderful stay at gite de l’ecole. Nothing like school!
Breathtaking surroundings of vines, mountains and trees around this lovely gite with its elegant proportions. Comfortable beds, tasteful furniture and artwork and plenty of hot water to shower in after lounging around the pool. Great to have a pool which has good depth and easy access steps for both children (aged 10 and 11) and adults to enjoy. Loved the swifts or swallows sweeping down to take a drink! Kitchen is a good size, although we ate al fresco most of the time. Fantastic to eat some of the garden veg and herbs, whilst sipping the wine (produced by Claude Collomb) grown from grapes surrounding the gite. Pool table provided lots of entertainment, with the odd game of table tennis. Sarah and Claude are charming hosts who kindly booked a superb table for us at a lovely restaurant. All round excellent accommodation and a wonderful time had in this beautiful place.

Two great weeks in beautiful surroundings
We (a family of 6) had two outstanding weeks in and around the house. Sarah & Claude are very nice hosts and the house delivered everything as promised. Apart from using the brilliant 10m pool with the wonderful view on the Grand Colombier we made good use of the table tennis and pool billard opportunities. The area itself is astonishing, hiking in the mountains to serveral gorges and waterfalls and canoeing were the main highlights. Lac de Bourget is also worth visiting. Mooie Franse woning in adembenemend gebied
Wij verbleven afgelopen week met heel veel plezier in deze gîte van Claude en Sarah met 5 volwassenen en 2 kleine kindjes. Het huis ligt prachtig gesitueerd met uitzicht op de Grand Colombier op een rustige plek. In en rondom het huis is veel ruimte en meer dan genoeg faciliteiten om ons en de kinderen te vermaken. Het is een geweldig gebied voor de racefiets met vele rustige wegen en mooie beklimmingen. Het dorpje Artemare (supermarkt, bakkerij, slager) ligt op 5 minuten rijden. Sarah en Claude waren erg gastvrij en vriendelijk met een fijne ontvangst en makkelijke communicatie. Kortom, een heerlijke vakantie.

Awesome home and hosts!
From the moment we arrived, greeted by Sarah, fresh flowers, sunny rooms, a lovely pool with vineyard vistas, a well-equipped kitchen, and charming bedrooms, we were in heaven!! We enjoyed a magical week with our boys and their wives, thanks to Sarah and Claude, who recommended favorite restaurants and places to see/things to do, all of which were wonderful. We especially loved The Belvedere restaurant overlooking Lac Bourget, wine tasting with the neighbor vintner Claude Collomb, and exploring the Grand Columbiere with unbelievable views of Mont Blanc. We hope to return some day!

gemütliche, rustikale Landvilla mit schönem Pool und Blick über Wein und Berge
Ein liebevoll rustikal erhaltenes Haus mit allem, was braucht. Wir sind 2 Familien mit 6 kleinen Kindern und für uns war es die perfekte Unterkunft. Ein Garten zum Spielen mit Spielgeräten und Pool. Wir genossen das Kochen, Backen, Grillen und auf der gekiesten Terrasse essen. Die lieben Vermieter hatten viele wunderbare Tipps für Unternehmungen: ein schöner Wasserfall, Picknick auf dem Grand Colombier bei Sonnenuntergang, Bootsfahrt auf dem Kanal von Chanaz mit Baden im Lac du Burget, Wunderbares Essen im "Le Belvedere", eine Weinverkostung mit der Vermieterin bei dem benachbarten Winzer... Bei Fragen oder Problemen war sofort jemand da. Alles perfekt.

Un lieu enchanteur...calme et apaisant, cosy et spacieux
Notre séjour a été parfait. L'accueil attentionné. La maison pleine de charme... authentique et moderne. Spacieuse et bien équipée. Proche du lac du Bourget, du village de Chavannaz...et bien d'autres...sans parler du jardin et de la piscine avec une vue magnifique sur les vignes et la campagne avoisinante. Nous reviendrons avec plaisir.

Beautiful house with fantastic views
We are a family of 2 adults and 2 teenagers and we had a fabulous holiday in this house. The house itself is beautifully decorated, full of character and has everything you need. The beds are very comfortable! Outside, there is the large pool with stunning views, table tennis, a trampoline and children’s toys. Inside, we enjoyed the TVs in the bedrooms and billiards. We felt we didn’t need to leave the house very often! If you do venture out, the area itself is fabulous. It is very quiet (although a great supermarket is only 5 minutes drive away) and it is a really unspoilt area of rural France. There are plenty of walks that can be taken from the house. It is also a good place for cycling. Further afield, we would recommend Annecy, Lac du Bourget, and the view from the Grand Colombier. Sarah and Claude are the perfect hosts. They are very knowledgeable about the area, and go out of their way to make sure you are having a good time. If you are looking for the perfect French rural idyll, then this is for you!

Lovely house, wonderful holiday!
We've stayed 1 week in this lovely big house; 2 Dutch families, 4 adults & 3 kids in July/August. We've all had a great time, especially the pool was fantastic! The view is stunning and the pool table is also nice. The owners Sarah and Claude are very friendly and helpful, with lots of info and maps. It was quite hot during our week, so besides cooling off in the pool of course, there's also a lovely natural lake nearby, the Virieu-le-Grand. It's really nice and only 10 minutes by car. The cascade nearby is absolutely beautiful, too. The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5, is that 1 of the 4 bedrooms was less comfortable (mattress and shower not so good as the others, which we've mentioned upon departure). Otherwise, everything was fine, would definitely recommend this place to everyone. Thanks Sarah & Claude, all the best from Holland and Switzerland and perhaps au revoir :-) !
