The apartment is spacious, clean, comfortable, modern and very well located, just a minute or so from one of York's medieval gates. You look onto the city walls from the windows and it is about a 5-minute walk to the Minster. The down-sides are small: there are no recycling facilities and no sponges, brushes or cloths were provided to wash up or clean, though there was washing-up liquid. Similarly no basic cooking items like salt/pepper/oil, not essential but nice to have when offering a fully-equipped kitchen. The apartment is run through a management company, which makes communication harder. I wanted to ask if I could check in early and spent 5 minutes on hold to be told that it was against company policy – there was no offer to inquire with the owner. I generally find that individual owners are much more flexible. Others should also be aware that the apartment is on the second floor of a large building without a lift. The circulation spaces beyond the apartment are more like a tired office block, but of course you are only passing through these so it is not a huge problem. These are minor niggles with an apartment that was excellently located and, thankfully, remained comfortable during the hottest week in York for many years. When I stay in York again, I'll be staying here!
